DREAM INTO THE FUTURE (Nov. 30 Theme: Science Fiction)
I had read Stephen Hawking but briefly,
Having overcome the craze for bestsellers quite amicably;
2001: A Space Odyssey had and held me in thrall,
Everyone was awestruck and had wondered at my gall.
Black Hole, The Galaxy are the epiphanies of science fiction,
Scientists and science fiction writers are contrapuntal – held together in contradiction.
Orwell’s 1984, a classic sci-fi dystopian novel, eulogizes Big Brother
In my teens, there’d been more such books to make readers come hither!
Sci-fi readers are different from those of literary fiction,
I had tried to delve into them before opting for abdication.
Some sci-fi novels allow us to dream of the future
Futuristic fiction often defies logic and reason – they are all typed on a computer.
It’s a fallacy that only students of science read these novels
Many a time, men in rags also turn the pages, residing in hovels!!
