Do you know what will happen after you die?
Do you know what will happen after you die?
There is bound to be shock, disbelief, numbness, and our dear ones will cry.
Very soon the news of your demise will spread around.
And then shortly the wailing and the crying will die down.
Then your family— your very own dear ones—your sons, daughters, parents, and your spouse will start making arrangements for food, and drinks, for your funeral rites.
The family would want everything to be just perfect with no oversights.
Relatives and friends will start enquiring about where the body will be buried or ashed.
The queries would be answered with expressions abashed.
It is then that you, dear mother/father, and so on become a body.
It heralds the end of the worldly ties that once you did physically embody.
If you are a mother, you must have nurtured your offspring in your womb for nine months.
But now your soul is unchaperoned for the journey confront.
Your family might not be able to keep the body even for a few hours.
Try they might so, but it is beyond their powers.
A family member who has to attend your funeral will make arrangements at their office or place of residence.
Unwillingly, uneasily, or perhaps with hints of hesitance.
During the process of moving out of the crematorium or graveyard, some of your friends/ relatives will start discussing some family matters
With some even broaching you in their usual flatters.
After a few days, your children will return to school/work. Your employer/ boss will start searching for your replacement.
With them having delegated you to your final emplacement.
In a month or so your family members will be back to leading their normal lives, maybe start watching TV or attending some function. Soon all will be normal.
Your place and identity among them now are merely conformal.
You will be forgotten at such an astonishing pace as if you were never there.
But undoubtedly now and then your dear ones may include you in their daily prayer.
If people can forget you so easily, then what did you do in your lifetime?
And you who tried to do everything to make their lives sublime.
You spent your whole life worrying about what others would think of you.
And now no one not even reminiscing on what you went through.
But in reality, nobody even cares.
After a while, you will find yourself perched on a wall like their other sacred idols and lares.
Life will go on with or without you.
You are not indispensable to all and will just be remembered by a few.
So live your life for yourself and not to please the people around you. Live to please your creator because he’s the one you are returning to.
And all this you should retrospect now when you were alive and not when it is too late to relive your life anew!
