Crossing

Crossing

Was crossing the road

An act so irrelevant and frequent

So many types of roads have been crossed

Where the cars zip by or the buses shuttle across

But this one was special

Drizzle had beaten the city

Its late evening

And was returning to his abode

An amber beam lit the faces

Though the roads muddy and undergoing repair

Crossed the road with abandon

And hoping to cross again
