By The River
By The River

By the river waning in the night,
An eerie silence, a ghastly sight,
The moon's pale glow, a haunting sight,
A lonely ballad I sing tonight.
The waters pour a soft lullaby,
As I watch the stars twinkle the sky.
My heart beats slow and I wonder why,
The night makes my mind sigh.
The leaves rustle in the midnight breeze,
A forlorn melody that nobody sees.
The shadows dance among the trees,
And I find myself lost in reverie.
M
y thoughts wander to memories of old,
Days gone by and stories untold.
And in that very bit I feel bold,
My heart's secrets begin to unfold.
But alas, the night must come to an end,
And I bid farewell to my lonely friend.
With a heavy heart, I leave the bend,
And on my way, my ballad I send.
By the river waning in the night,
I leave behind my solitary sight,
My heart sings on, with all its might,
And I bid goodbye to this lonely site.
