Bitter Sweet Love
Bitter Sweet Love
Dried paper hearts hang from the ceiling
of my house. Green, brown, and beige.
I want to hold your hand and walk the
path of life no matter what my age.
Your love has made me bold, I can
Now go out in the wild and thrive.
There are times I feel the sting even
when there aren’t any bees in the hive.
I light a candle each night in your sweet
Anticipation…And then I turn the pages
of my diary in which I had kept the rose
That you gave me. You know it has
Turned brown, yet I can feel your essence.
For one doesn’t love only when it’s easy.
It’s a feeling that stays until senescence!
