Away But Anyway
Away But Anyway
The dark clouds are gathering
Run child run
Get not drenched in this downpour
From the rain gods
And catch a cold
Memories Of another childhood
Come to my mind now
It ’as a similar day
When the clouds were gathering
Ready to spray
The Sea mother,
Gave us our daily bread
But grew angry on odd occasions
That day she was at her furious best
With a tempest smoldering on sea and earth
Our shanty
Barely held me, my mom, and three siblings,
Few vessels, some clothes
And our school books
That my mother managed to buy
The Sea, the Rain, and Wind conspired
To blow our shanty away
The mother hen tried to cover her chicks
But Tragedy remained at bay
Took my loved ones away
Left alone and wondering
I reached a place of worship
The prayer was made
And a good soul heard
Took me to his hearth away
Far far away
From the sea, the city, the country
A new shore a new bay
Life's gear on reverse
Ultimate Luxury to say
But my little soul
Sketched with memories
Did remember that day, anyway, every day
When the clouds loomed large
The emotions brimmed away
