An Ode To The Real Mother
An Ode To The Real Mother
Dear Didi...
I've always wanted to know what it's like to have a mother...
From the day I gained consciousness, I'd see kids being loved and kissed by that woman they affectionately called "mom".
I'd wait for hours after school for mine to come but she never did...
I always wanted that feeling of being loved unconditionally...
To be able to call "maa!" when I got hurt, felt sad and upset just like the other kids...
I always wanted to hug someone tight at night when the monsters screamed from under my bed but I found none!
Until I met you...
Can sisters be mothers or only those who give birth?
You came to pick me up from school and college... I was never left waiting...
You hugged and you kissed, I was never left wanting...
You slept on my bed and you scared away all of the monsters, I was never fearing...
You got me ready for my exams to my first date, I was never left asking...
Sister, I don't know the definition of what a mom is, but for me, it was YOU!
When it hurts, I scream Sister!
When I cry I scream Sister!
When I laugh, I scream Sister...
You will always be my mother, your absence doesn't not deter...
For me, my older sister was, is and will forever remain my mother...
You were that magical woman in my life, and there will never be another.
