An average Indian
An average Indian
Became an Engineer
After four years of toil.
Could not join a job,
'coz the Principal did the spoil.
Got a job near my home
When I was thirty four.
My talent and my certificates
Could not fetch it to me before.
Got my first promotion
After nine years there.
Greasing palms and buttering
Were the only way higher.
Took up another
Hundred kilometers further.
Never knew lack of those two
Would follow me hither.
Turned up with another
Yet far away.
Tried to exhibit talents
That I had tucked away.
Had to leave it anyway
After six months of stay.
Luckily though
Somehow, I got my pay.
Two years at home
Without a wage earned.
Got a job again
Wearily I learned,
When you are in a job,
Don't strive for honor.
Get your paycheck monthly,
For that's the need of the hour.
In came Corona
That turned me sore.
Left it for one better
Had to forsake two months of pay.
Is it what we have to suffer
Is it the only way?
We exult our selves
For the GDP of the land.
No one seeks to know
What happened to our hand.
Indi as is my country.
All Indians my brethren.
But, where do they all go,
When I am in chagrin?
