A Little One’s Dream

A Little One’s Dream

I dreamt of a beautiful world in my mother's womb,

Little did I know, my life would end in a tomb.

With love, she nurtured me, thought of my name and what I'd do,

I never imagined I'd be smeared in blood and wounds too.

Dad had plans to raise me like a prince,

We'd go places, a future convinced.

My existence in her womb made her proud,

Now she sees me bleeding, crying aloud.

Mumma, hold my hand, don't let me go,

You said you loved me, wanted to see me grow.

My first kick brought joy and rejoice,

Now you can't even hear my voice.

I wanted to live and see the world so wide,

But hardly knew I'd be shot and cast aside.

With friends, all I wanted was to play,

My heart was delighted, in its own way.

Now, everyone's leaving me alone,

I'm searching for someone to call my own.

My sister and brother left for heaven's embrace,

Leaving the rest of us in this painful space.

What was my fault, you tell me, Mom?

I dreamt of a world with peace and calm.

I was told the world is one big family,

Sent here to live and be happy, you see.

I wished to see the flowers in bloom,

Now all I see are faces full of gloom.

The air I breathe is smoky and sad,

I yearned for love and to be glad.

I'm your baby, your heart, your soul,

In your embrace, I want to be whole.

I wish to grow and be your strength,

But here I am, lying at length.

I don't understand roads and boundaries,

Let's live with love, I plead on my knees.

I look above, you once said God resides there,

Call Him now, can't He see His children bleeding here?
