A Heart Of Gold

Rising up after falling down,

Certain someday I would have somebody that I could count on,

Walking on this path of loneliness,

Definite of a way out of this cold-numbing darkness,

But struggling out of it,

Was like exiting a dark endless pit.

My dreams of getting to somewhere new used to fall apart,

When I managed to get quite far,

I always ended up with a broken heart.

Cherishing my present like it was my very last,

I moved on without glancing back at my past.

Fearing what my future holds,

I held my head up...

Walking and learning as I grew old,

Unaware that I would finally stumble upon someone with a 'HEART of GOLD'.
