A Dream Realized
A Dream Realized
Once an impossible dream
Today he stood weather beaten
A thousand emotions bursting
His whole body too famished to feel
Even the blood that gushed within
Was it even worth?
The loss to frostbite
Never to be whole again
A part of him, cold and dead
Nothing still felt in vain
Death was a constant shadow
He too was pursued
By an untimely end, every man's curse
But he ran, he fought to escape
His life had a purpose
Maybe he was trying to conquer
An already accomplished goal
His name would be lost
Among-st the first heroes
An also been, at most
The odds and risks
Were not worth it, they said
But could they ever feel his glow
The fire that kept him alive
How could he show?
All he knew was struggle
To fulfil needs of others
His self, forgotten, dead
Other rules took precedence
Until he chose himself instead
For once he yearned
To listen to his heart
And here he stood today
Broken, torn apart
He had charted his way
The physical pain pales
While strength flows through his mind
These are moments to savor
When life seems meaningless
Here lies beauty forever
There was no pride of victory
Nothing to prove, no vanity
He kissed the naked ground,
He was but a grain of sand
In a creation profound
To learn that a fragile form
Could resign, perish or fight
Death will win some day, but the inner voice
Has witnessed the spirit indomitable
Giving up will never again be a choice
