A Downpour Of Joy

A Downpour Of Joy

1 min
148

I stayed away from the pouring rain,

Taking care of my suit and tie.

Cursing my luck and biding my time,

I heard a joyful cry.

A quartet of urchins were out in the rain,

Playing and taking part in a game.

With mud on their clothes and smiles on their face,

I saw not a hint of disdain.

I kept a foot out of my shelter,

Ready to join them in the rain,

But the weight of my goals and my chores,

Kept me where I was at.

I bided my time watching them play,

I cursed my suit and my tie.

My choices in life kept me away,

But I took pleasure in their game.
