A Dark Battle

A Dark Battle

I stopped by the gate to look into the emptiness

The path was dark, gloomy and sad.

My eyes searched, for a single light,

A flicker, a bulb, a firefly would suffice.

But the darkness stood high, tall and grand,

Staring back at me, with a ferocious glare.

Daring me to walk into its cold womb,

And face the unknown playing in its room.

The earth watched with bated breath,

As the boat of my mind started to sway.

The moon tripped and dropped a pile of gloom,

From the skies overhead to the underneath room.

The stars frightened, hid behind the clouds.

The clouds in fear went round and round.

The sun was slumbering, without a worry,

Leaving me with a baggage too heavy to carry.

A silent long music flowed into my ears,

As I stood staring at the void with unarmored fear.

Water trickled down from the temple of my mind,

Flooding my thoughts with all its might.

A gulp I took, clenching my fist,

Took a breathe and stretched my wrist.

My eyes were lost in the maze of the unknown,

Aimless they wandered in the sockets of the known.

Thoughts were lost in the maze of my mind,

I ran after the decisions that were good and kind.

Tapping my foot, hands crossed I stood,

Angering the silence with the darkened mood.

Time passed by, smiling and chuckling,

The Darkness grew tired of the endless waiting.

Impatient and restless the darkness grew,

But I was a specimen belonging to the few.

A yawn I heard, loud and clear,

Someone was waking from a sleep deep.

The clouds tired of their rounds and rounds,

Dispersed from the sky without a sound.

The stars ran away with the clouds,

Into their burrow of the golden mounds.

The moon sounded an alarm, wide and clear,

run from the sky as the sun was near.

Darkness and silence heard the noise,

The commotion of the sky with faces annoyed.

The sun was waking up, the birds sang,

Silence ran away from the noise of the harangue.

The sun looked up from the corner of the sky,

darkness took to its heel, with a smile sly.

I stuck out my tongue at the fleeing darkness,

Winked at the sun with a glowing happiness.
