The Mid-Night Quest For Thirst

The Mid-Night Quest For Thirst

A very random midnight quest found me

Searching water for my parched throat.

But as I stood in front of the refrigerator,

I froze though I was not at all cold.

The quest for the water skin,

Found me looking at a half-closed door,

And the trickle of light that hung by the frame,

Made me look at things I won't.

It would seem that somehow,

My body and brain were,

For the first time,

Not in Sync!

It seemed that a seemingly pointless quest

Led me to realize why I was single.

And upon the realization,

Also discovered that

The nectar that dipped from her lips,

The ambrosia that lined the straps of her dress,

The honey that dripped from her silken skin,

The butter that lay within the confines of her modesty,

The fine wine that was her voice,

And how eager I was to get drunk on them.

In a moment of extreme clarity I realized,

(Much to my embarrassment, I admit)

That the self-imposed quest I had taken,

Was, As of Now,

Still Incomplete.

And after a moment of extreme desperation;

Though not the last by any measure.

I found that the nectar, My lips yearned for,

Was right beside the venom, That my body feared.

Too soon in Life, had I learned

That the pleasure of human company,

Was a two-sided blade.

And with each edge sharper than my armor was dense,

I realized,

That I was still thirsty.

And would die as such.
