Was That Necessary ?
Was That Necessary ?
There was a house in the middle of the forest where an old woman named Suchita lived. She was ugly and that's why no one married her. As the saying goes, "don't judge a book by its cover", she was very kind and intelligent. She was very lonely in that house in the forest. So she adopted a five-year-old boy named Mohit. He was very friendly and easily mixed with her. He called her granny as she was very old. She also had a cat and she called her Sweetie. Mohit also loved sweetie and always played with her. Things were going pretty well but suddenly the situation changed. Mohit died. He was playing with sweetie. He chased her to the well and drowned. Suchita was very sad. She couldn't sleep peacefully for the entire month. She was a little bit depressed. But she never blames the cat as it was not reasonable. It was not her fault or neither Mohit. Granny never treated her differently. After sometime , everything became normal. She slowly started to forget him, not completely but started. But she never stopped looking at the well. She always takes glances at it and ignores it later. The reason was not completely about the death of Mohit but also a bird and her nest. It was on the tree next to the well. Suchita unconsciously thinks about it. She wondered sometimes that the bird will lay eggs and cute little birds will come out of it. And also they will be in danger if a cat wants to eat them. After completing the nest, the bird laid two eggs. Suchita was happy to see that. She took a chair and sat on it and completely staring at the eggs. She was happy as at least the bird will have a family and at the same time sad with the thought of Mohit's death. She unconsciously stared at it. She didn't say that the cat was slowly approaching the tree or maybe the nest. She climbed the tree and fell as she lost her balance. Because of her movements, one of the eggs fell off and cracked. Suchita suddenly realized the situation and was shocked. She got nearer to the tree and tried to shook the cat off. She thought that the cat would do the same. So she tried to get the second egg. The nest was not build up that high that's why she was able to get the egg. She took the egg but it slipped out of her hands and cracked. When she was engaged in helping the egg, the bird already came and tried to scare her away. When the egg cracked bird was acting strange and started to make a noise like a chirp - chirp, and chirp as she was cursing her. Suchita was already in depression and now she encountered this situation. She thought that she committed a sin. If not for her helping the egg, the second egg would have never cracked. That day, she saw two little birds in blood and their mother cursing her.
The next day she committed suicide.
