Unwelcome Disaster

One night I was blissfully dreaming about going to Kepler 452-b. I kept dreaming until a ray of sunshine hit me. I woke up in a random house. This looked Russian! But old… But how could it be possible? It is not like humans can teleport!! So, I slept again thinking it was a dream. Then I woke up at the exact spot as before! I started to question reality. That’s not all, I checked my smart watch and it showed April 26, 1986. I just ignored it for two seconds then two things struck me.

1. It seems I travelled back in time. (Yippee!)

2. This was the day Chernobyl took place. (Oh no!)

I looked out the window and saw the Chernobyl nuclear reactor staring into my soul. I started to panic. I tried to warn the others but their expressions said it all. You couldn’t expect me to know Russian! I felt hopeless. These people would die though they had a chance to live. I went about it desperately. I finally found a Russian who speaks English. I told him everything. At first, (of course) he didn’t believe me. Then I explained it to him in excruciating detail, then he believed me. After arguing for some time, he managed to get the supervisors of the reactor to issue an official warning. The people were evacuated and, as predicted, rector four exploded after an hour. But this time no deaths!! They all said “Спасибо” which means thank you in Russian. So, after everything settled down, I dozed off at 9:00 p.m. and woke up at my actual house. I simply searched “Chernobyl disaster” on google. It showed “mystery man saves 1000’s lives from radiation” and there, there was my picture!! So, it was real! Now off to the scientist’s house to prove him wrong!!
