Unhappily Married - Part 1

Just when I thought my life is now stable and that I've married to the most handsome man in the world who also happens to hold a Green Card, something changed, actually,a lot of things changed.

I was in my college teaching Physics to the students who never paid attention when I got a message from my younger sister Nisha ,"Nikita,we've got a rishta for you,come home soon". My college building being just 10 mins away from my home, I was able to hurry to my home with my scooter. I got to my room through the back door and got all dressed up, held the plate of chai and pakodas with a forceful smile and headed to impress my in-law and the NRI guy.

We were just 5 days away from our wedding when Richard called me and told me he has to go to Thailand for an important business meeting, he was into stock market. We were having an arrange marriage and not very people were happy because I come from a middle class family, so I had no 'dowry' to give them. Richard being the only child, liked me somehow in the first meet itself and convinced his parents to get married to me.

Richard left to Thailand for his business trip, as it was an important deal, he couldn't skip it. All the preparations were in full swing and right before he left, he told me "I'll be back soon sweetheart, don't you worry". And, that's when I started worrying.

It was almost our wedding day and we were all waiting for 'Barat' to arrive, my parents were the most happiest people that day, including my younger sister who was as happy as she could be, as from now she'll be having all the attention and affection for herself. It was almost the time of Murat and the groom had still not shown up neither his parents or relatives or anyone, we just assumed they got stuck in traffic and are going to be late.

My parents and my relatives tried a numerous calls, but ended up with no answer. I was almost on the verge of crying when my 42 calls to Richard went all missed. Right after two minutes, I found myself weeping with all my bridal makeup creating a mess of all the efforts they took to get me ready. No comfort was working, Everything went blurry, I was about to faint, just then I received a call from an 'unknown number' that said " Hi Nikita, I'm sure you don't know me, but I know you' I've been trying to reach your wedding was fixed but I couldn't, I know this may sound strange, but let me just tell you that if you get married to this guy you'll be killed soon, they are not good people your in-laws I mean and the man itself, he'll kill you, I've called you solely out of concern to only tell to abort this marriage".
