Timed Machine

"Access to the time machine and you can use it only once and where would you go" read a poster in the streets of Alabama. 

Blake had to win the prize to be able to afford a gift for his mother. The only way he would be able to do that is by manipulating time. He knew that his opponent is powerful and he would never be able to defeat him if he were present at the match.

Blake cropped a plan in his head. He decided that he'll send Chris to a distant place from the time machine. He made arrangements in such a way that Chris will willingly agree to travel in the time machine. 

On the previous night to the match day, he took Chris to the time machine that was hidden in Dr. George's lab. He had previously set the place and time for it to work favorably to him. 

Chris was not aware of what Blake had in mind but yet he trusted him and went inside the time machine. As soon as he entered the time machine, Blake closed the time machine and ignited it. 

The time machine-read, "London, 10th December 2050". 

Chris realized it sooner and tried to change the destination of the time machine. He restarted the time machine to point to "Chicago, 15th November 2018" which was the match day. He reached earlier than his present. 

He saw that Blake was receiving the prize and understood that Blake had plotted against him to win the match. Later, he saw that he wanted money to buy a gift for his mother. Chris was angry and sad at the same time. He couldn't forgive what Blake did to him and felt sorry for the state he is in. 

Since he couldn't travel back in time, he is 2 months older than him in real life. The timelines never intersected and he lived two lives at once since the time gap between his real and space-age was less.
