Few Nightmares Die Hard

Every night, before I went to sleep, I used to stare at that far away owl on that big banyan tree, distantly visible from my window.

"Welch, you need to calm down and not scare everyone around you", said Linda. Welch defended, "I am just stating facts. I want people to know about what I have been seeing."

*Murmurs in the room *

Welch regaining his stance conveyed, "People of Artland, I need you all to be aware of your surroundings. If you are having the same nightmares over and over, I’d like you to reach out to me because I sense you might be in trouble."

No one came forward. Linda then reinstated to Welch that he was indeed being insane about recurring nightmares.

Margo, a little hesitant walked silently towards Welch and whispered her nightmare stories to him. He realised that he wasn’t wrong after all, the fear was real.

Margo and Welch were the only ones who could see the owl. But, their kinds were different. The more they stared at the owl and went to sleep, the more returning were the nightmares. They triggered their deepest fears.

The nightmares had a thing in common, the owls and the banyan trees. Welch’s owl was brown and Margo’s owl was grey. What waited ahead for both of them was their past life ghosts and how they were now trying to take control of their present lives.

Welch and Margo hatched a plan to defeat the pattern and killed the owl.
