The Three-course Meal
The Three-course Meal
For someone who barely earns rupees 300-400 per day and manages a family of four members, a three-course meal always seems unachievable.
Shankar, a rickshaw puller had always dreamt of taking her wife out for dinner date in a fancy restaurant and relish a three-course meal with her. Whenever he dropped someone in a restaurant, he dreamt that someday he would also enjoy dinner with his wife in a restaurant.
He worked hard to fulfil his sweet dream but sometimes someone from his family would fall ill, others times he would need money to meet other emergencies and sadly he had to use his saved money to cover up these expenses.
It had been almost three years of his marriage and finally, he had managed to save enough money
to afford a three-course meal. It was 14th February i.e., Valentines Day. The fragrance of love was all around and so was his love for his wife. The moment he told his wife that they were going out for dinner, she got elated.
They wore their best clothes and he drove with her to a fancy restaurant. In the restaurant when the waiter asked him to order food, he got confused. The whole menu card seemed oblivious to him. He excused himself for using loo and while returning he talked to a waiter.
The waiter understood his problem and helped him in ordering the best food under his budget. His wife enjoyed the three-course meal and he enjoyed seeing his wife relishing the food. And in the end, he gave the waiter fifty rupees tip.
