The Memorable Adventure
The Memorable Adventure
"Um…. Are you sure we have come the right path?"
"Yes of course.. The map says so"
So you must be wondering what is going one here, nothing big. It is me, my dad and my uncle stuck in between in the jungle filled with snow.
It all began the previous day when I had conflict with my mom about her allowing me to go trekking,
"Maa…..Please let me go trekking"
"It's very dangerous, Climbing 9000 ft., You need practice. It's your first time. I can't send you there "
"But I'm going with Dad and uncle. They can take care of me, also I'm very fit. Don't worry I'll be safe."
"No we are in an unknown place what if you get lost"
"I have a phone"
"What if you injure yourself in the jungle"
"I'll be safe, anyways dad is with me"
"What if…."
"Mom… please I'll take care of myself, also I'll be back by evening let me go.."
When my dad enters,
"Let her come"
"But…"
"Don't worry I'll manage everything"
"Ok, it's on you if anything happens…"
And my mom finally agreed, I was very excited for the next day, little did I know that trekks aren't actually a piece of cake.
The next morning we all got up early and got ready to leave. We had our breakfast since we weren't going to get anything on our way.
Soon we left for our adventure, initially we had to take a cab to the point from where we could reach the starting point. We had a 200m trekk to the starting point, it was the toughest part of the entire 7 hour I spent trekking.
Once we reached the starting point, we finally began our trek. The route by which it proceeded was beautiful. It was covered with red rhododendron flowers on both sides. These are seasonal flowers that only come once a year. It was very beautiful and the air was extremely fresh. We could feel the cold breeze gushing through us as it gave us immense satisfaction. But soon this feeling ended as the sun came up and the heat took over. We kept on moving though the heat made us feel dehydrated. We had made it, we had reached the halfway mark 4500ft and 4km was covered. That's when we found some stores we had some cold drink and kept on moving now we were surrounded with jungle everywhere and suddenly when we finally saw the city from a clip, we noticed our path forward was completely covered with snow, the snow was melting because of the boiling sun and it was almost impossible to climb for almost 3 kms in such a slippery terrain. None of us was confident about making it up but we didn't give up and just kept moving to see where it takes us.
We did not have spiked shoes hence it became much tougher to move on, but we had to keep going, couldn't have done so much in vain. As we moved ahead we met a couple which was proceeding down, they told us that we couldn't reach the point but could go a decent distance before leaving to go back. Even Though we were demotivated on hearing this we decided to move on. We kept on climbing and climbing, though our legs were slipping. Finding a route through the snow where it wouldn't sink or fall was very tough but we kept going. It was long and tiring and we had no hope but we had come so far, we couldn't bear stepping back. As we climbed through the snow, we struggled, we even had to climb like monkeys with our hands. The slopes were very steep but we enjoyed it. Soon we realised that we were almost there, we knew it would be difficult now but we had suffered enough to find this to be a piece of cake
And then finally came the moment we had been waiting for, it has been 4 hours now, and we had finally reached we saw the dove white, scenic mountains which soared high in the sky, we also witnessed something we couldn't believe it was real, the aerial view of the city, we were completely memorized by the beauty on all four directions. All our fatigue just wore off like that. We sat there and enjoyed a warm bowl of noodles. It was the most delicious thing I had ever eaten. This trek had taught me a lot, I today personally had seen how not giving up and putting hard work is fruitful. This trek had been the best decision of my life.
On the top when we were leaving we encountered a dog who had also climbed its way up. It seemed hungry so we fed it a packet of biscuit, then we began to descend on our down we kept sliding down the snow. But the result to that wasn't so good, as we kept sliding we reached a point where we no more had any idea where we were, That's when i asked my uncle,
"Um…. Are you sure we have come the right path?"
"Yes of course.. The map says so"
We paused there for a while because if we went any further we could land in the valley in a nowhere, That is when my dad spotted a point where there were Tibetan flags put, we had no idea where we were so we decided to go there first, as we went there my uncle finally figured out the route to proceed ahead, we kept on descending without anymore troubles now, we collected some beautiful flowers, we even passed through a forest where we were surrounded with langurs on both sides but since we were together we didn't have any fear, even the dog accompanied us as we descended, soon we reached the halfway mark and then the end point, it was already evening we took a cab and left for hotel. It had been a long and memorable day.
