This legend was found amongst the papers of the late Nawab Mir Kasim of Bengal. On the banks of the river Hoogly, where the river makes its most treacherous turn, and breaks the land into a swarm of little river-islands, there is a city. Its the ancient capital of Bengal called Berahampur. Ten kilometers from this city is a small town through which the river gushes past in menacing torrents. It was home to the rulers of Murshidabad, the Kasim Bazaar royal family. The port was a busy one and in the year 1757, it was the hub of all trades. All the gold and the silver, the silk and the cotton passed through the ports of Kasim Bazaar. The one who held Kasim Bazaar, held Murshidabad. In those days, Murshidabad was the new capital of Bengal, ruled by Nawab Siraj-ud-daula. And Kasim Bazaar was a confederate of the Nawabs of Murshidabad, Raja Krishna Chandra Roy...
