I woke up in the morning to an unusual din of bells. It was 8 AM. I am hardly this late ever, but, today was special. It was my marriage anniversary and I was on leave. I was looking up to a lazy day with party time with my dear wife in the evening. However, I strolled out of bed to see what the commotion outside was. As I paced downstairs with my cellphone in one hand and a toothbrush in the other, I chanced to meet my neighbor on the first landing. He seemed visibly shaken and woefully agitated as he ran along the stairs. I stopped him to inquire about his condition, but, he simply swerved across me in a hurry murmuring, "The world is turning upside down. We have to leave immediately", and raced to his flat just beside mine. I couldn't guess what he said and sped up my steps. When I reached outside I was equally alarmed just like my neighbor.

The entire street was crowded beyond imagination. There were men, women, policemen, onlookers, protestors, political activists, and people from all walks of life filling the street. Everyone was shouting and no one was listening. Even the policemen were dumbstruck. They weren't moving at all as if struck by a bolt of lightning. Their guns were pointed downwards, their sticks hanging loosely from their harness, their crowd-control shields strapped to their backs, but, none were functioning. I was confused. Suddenly, my cellphone rang. I picked up the call casually looking at the display, which gave me a startle. My boss! Why the hell did he ring me up on my holiday!

"Yes Sir!" I spoke, audibly annoyed. "Jeet!" he was almost shouting, "Where are you?" "I am on leave today", I sounded as uninterested as I could, "Why? What's the problem?" "Jeet! I am in a big problem. Please help me out" "What problem?" I still sounded indifferent. "Jeet! My office is surrounded by hooligans who are baying for my blood. I have just locked the front gate for safety, but, don't know how long it is going to keep them away. Please rescue me somehow. You know all the escape routes well". "Why didn't you call the police?" I retorted. "I did. I did hours ago. They aren't coming. I am completely helpless. Please help me out, Jeet! My daughter is alone at home. Jeet!"
