The Diary of a girl in love

  March 8 2023. Mood: almost in tears. 

     And you chose this day to ruin my mood. If I wasn't so self controlled, I would be in tears right now.

   One major thing I hate about Fallingpearls high school was how it made every pretty new student feel like a queen bee. That was the case for Daphne Makepeace last year and its the same thing for Bridget Bailey. 

  It's the first day of school and all I have heard every guuy say so far is "That new chic is so fine! That new girl smiled at me! she has a dimple on her left cheek! So cute" I groan inside my head and continue to focus on the history textbook my father bought for me even after I told him it was unnecessary. He's the kind of person that values education so much but that's nit the problem right now! I'm not going to say that I'm jealous of the new girl or that I wish the attention she was getting was mine because it is nothing to me, really it isn't but I just wish everyone in this stupid school would just shut their mouth and focus on getting into college! Like I'm doing right now. 

  My name is Anastasia Castle and this year is supposed to be my year! It started last year actually when I was voted student body president. It was a dream come true for me to stand in front of the whole school and receive my badge, my parents were proud, most especially my mom who was also student body president back in her days, she has her own badge to prove it. I'm so glad I'm honoring her past. But now, I feel like shit, today being the first day of school is totally not going as well as I planned. 

  "Hey hot stuff" Joshua Cowley winked at me as he walked to his seat behind me. "what're you reading?" 

  "why are you asking? You can't even read!" I said inside my head and instead replied by raising the book up to show him "A history textbook, I bet you've never seen one before, there is only three copies in the world and I'm lucky to have one." 

  "ha ha" He faked a laugh. Joshua Cowley is a member of the basketball team and is really high on the social ladder, a ladder I've never climbed. If I was at the lowest of the lowest, I'd be happy but I find myself at the back of a long queue of people waiting to climb the ladder and this is my last year of High-school, its so frustrating! My purpose this year is to be popular, if not popular at least I should be noticed for doing something other than being the best student at math. 

  "what is it gummy bear?" Joshua pulled my hair "Are you cursing someone under your breath or you're doing some incantations?" 

 "I'm cursing the day you were born Joshua Cowley" I shrieked and turned to face him "I pity your mother the most, she should have killed you when she had the chance" 

  "My parents are married" He rolled his eyes "They had no reason to abort me" 

  "I've heard of less worse mistakes" I hissed. 

 "You want to tell me what is wrong or you want me to ask you what's wrong?" Joshua sighed "it's early in the morning and you're already becoming annoying" 

  "Says the guy who pulled my hair" I scoffed "if I'm annoying then why don't you" I paused for two seconds "just disappear? " 

  He chuckled and shrugged "I don't know Annie, maybe I just like it when you annoy me" 

  "you're a jerk" Joshua Cowley is also the only guy I might consider as a friend, we've known each other since he and his parents moved to the same street that I live in with my parents and there's not a single day that he doesn't get on my nerves. I turned back to face my front and focus on my history textbook, I forgot the page I was reading but I wasn't really reading at all. "Joshua" I turn back to face him "What do you think of the new girl?" 

  "Nah" He smirked "you're more my type" 

  I rolled my eyes this time "What do you think of her? You think she's cute? As the student body president, its my responsibility to know about everyone" 

  "Then why not just walk up to her? Why ask me?" He raised an eyebrow "You can also ask your boyfriend, they've been together all morning."

  "All morning?" In case you're surprised, yes, I have a boyfriend and he's a basketball player as well. We've been dating for more than two years and our one thousandth anniversary is just around the corner. Stanley and I are the school's sweetheart but unfortunately, dating a basketball player in Fallingpearls high won't make you popular. You need to be extremely pretty, have boys all around you and a very active social media presence. "what do you mean all morning?" I ask. 

  "just that I was in his class minutes ago and he didn't spare me a minute and was instead listening to the new girl talk about peanut butter and cheese"

  "They're in the same class?" 

"yup, guess she's just as dumb as your boyfriend" Joshua grinned and dodged his face when I tried to slap him. Fallingpearls high always separated the students based on their grades and being one of the smartest kids I ended up in the first class with Stanley in the third class, there are only three classes so Joshua might be kind of right to call Stanley dumb but it's also offensive to say it in front of me. 

  Stanley being in the same class with the new girl just made matters worse because if he developed any feelings for her, there's no way I can keep up with my shaggy looks and my extremely boring personality.

Dear diary

  I am the worm of the school.

  The third class is just two classes away and though I'm very certain that it will be embarrassing seeing my boyfriend with another girl I just wanted to go there and confirm and maybe let her know that he has a girlfriend and hopefully Joshua was lying and Stanley really hasn't been talking to the girl all morning. 

  Joshua wasn't lying. Stanley really has been talking to this girl all morning, they're talking now and she's laughing, they're both laughing and I could really picture them in a netflix High-school show with them as the main character and me as the jealous girlfriend walking towards them with a fake smile on my face. 

  "Hi, Stanley" I tried to maintain my fake smile as I turned to face the new girl "I didn't see you all morning"

  "oh, he's been helping me settle down" The new girl cut in with a very bright smile, I could puke "I'm a new student, I'm sure you know that" 

  "I wasn't aware we had a new student" The lie came out easily and I almost coughed. 

  "oh well" she shrugged "I came for the summer lesson and I guess I'm not so new anymore since I practically know almost everyone" 

  "that's good to hear" I say

 "Are you a friend of Stan's?" The new girl asked "you weren't around during the summer lesson so I don't know you" 

  "I'm not his friend" I said but Stanley finished my sentence for me. 

  "She's the student body president" He said "This is Anastasia Castle" 

  "oh" Bridget beamed "oh, my, I'm sorry" 

 "for what?" I couldn't contain the tears in my voice, Stanley just introduced me as the student body present and not his girlfriend. It was because of this new girl. Was he going to break up with me because of her? 

 "For not showing respect of course" The new girl answered "I'm Bridget Bailey and I'm so glad to meet you" 

  "The pleasure is mine" I blinked away my tears "I'm pretty sure anytime soon the principal will ask me to give you a tour of our wonderful school" 

  "Stanley can just do that instead" Bridget turned to him "he's my friend" 

  "well it's my responsibility, it's my first day as student body president and I'm not going to let someone else do my job for me" 

  "in that case" Bridget smiled "I would be honoured to have you give me a tour of this wonderful school" 

  "That's nice" I say, I couldn't look up at Stanley and so instead I walked away. I walked out of the class and I heard her saying "The student body president is so pretty!" it was obvious she was playing an act, she was acting all cute and clingy to him. But what hurt worse was that Stanley did not introduce me as his girlfriend! I was annoyed.

   I might not be popular but I have good grades, I'm student body president and I have three best friends. 

Tiana Fall, Adrianne David and Stephanie Book, what more can I ask for? (I could ask for a boyfriend who doesn't look at other girl's faces) 

  " He did that?" Stephanie asked. I already told them about Stanley and Bridget and they were all gasping. "You should have said that you were his girlfriend. Claim your man!" 

  "or maybe he didn't mean it that way" Tiana cut in, Tiana is known for her brilliant ways of reasoning. She's the gentlest and the most polite of all of us. "Maybe he didn't think he was hurting you by introducing you as the president, maybe he's just proud that his girlfriend is the president and wanted to show you off" 

  "Well he didn't put his arm around me and say" I mimicked Stanley's voice "This is Anastasia Castle, the student body president, also my girlfriend!" 

  "well maybe you should just talk to him about how you feel" Tiana shrugged "guys don't think, they just do. You should let him know how you feel" 

  "yeah listen to the relationship expert" Stephanie said sarcastically "That new girl is turning his head and he's falling for her fast! You have to do something about it or it's bye bye Stanley for you" 

  "Don't say that" Tiana snapped 

 "I support Steph" Adrianne said "I think they might have something going on, I followed her on Instagram this morning and she posted a picture of him with heart shapes" 

  "can I see?" I went to adrianne as she took out her phone from her pocket, unfortunately they didn't take the picture together and it was an old picture of Stanley at the beach. "The picture is old" 

  "she probably thinks it's a hot picture" Adrianne had a point, Stanley was wearing only shorts and he was hugging a big dog. He looked like he was doing a pose for a magazine, good thing the dog hid all his fat stomach. Stanley wasn't hot but the picture made him look like he was and Bridget clearly liked it because she used a caption that said "Sunday morning and I'm blessed with this" I looked at the date she posted the picture and it was yesterday, he had probably sent her the picture. 

  Stephanie came over to look at the picture and began scrolling through Bridget's feed and we saw other pictures of Stanley which her also old pictures except one that they took together. He was dressed in his casual clothes but she had on a blue fitted gown that hugged her rectane shaped body and had on heavy makeup. "She's over doing it" Stephanie says "She's trying to get him" 

  "what should I do?" I ask

"nothing" she answers "don't do anything yet, just wait."

  I'm supposed to just wait.

  Class has never felt so boring and I have never hated any class in my life but I have something going on in my mind and Its not helping me focus. I hear a ping sound coming from my phone and I take it out of my pocket. It's a message from Stanley. 

  "miss castle" The teacher calls "can you please suspend your phone until the class ends?" 

  "yes miss" I put the phone back in my pocket and try my best to focus on whatever it is the teacher is teaching.
