The Departed Girl

SYNOPSIS:

Karthik was having his 18th birthday and everyone was quite happy. They came to know of news that Chief Medical Officer of Cross Road Died of a heart attack. His parents and Grandparents were quickly stunned to hear this. They started to behave abnormally after hearing this. They wanted to know if this was true or not. Karthik was just not getting any idea of all that. He was informed by his parents something which froze his bone.

Around 24 years ago, Professor Kashyap who was a professor at Delhi University had a daughter Naina. She was a criminal Lawyer and was around 24 and ready for marriage. Mr. Rai (52) was a manager in SBI who came to know about Naina through a matrimonial site. His son Sakshyam was an income tax inspector posted in Delhi.

Two families decided to meet each other and their bonding and understanding allowed them to get closer. Naina was a lawyer and hated the philosophy of Dowry and so did Sakshyam. Two of them agreed to marry and were going to be married in 3 weeks. The Engagement ceremony allowed them to come closer.

Sakshyam being a government employee was a limited spending person who always took care of his pocket. Buying a lehenga for Naina worth 75,000/- made him cry. He was just not getting it that how people manage to marry twice or thrice in their life.

Among all these things going in their mind they were happily married and started a new life together. Sakshyam was gifted a Honda car by Professor Kashyap and they had pre-planned to go on a honeymoon to a hull station. They decided to make it more adventurous by turning it on a road trip. 

They left for Mussoorie the very next day and were there at one of the luxurious hotels to enjoy the best moments of their life together. Sakshyam and Naina roamed around in the evening and even after being tired they decided to take the first move and made love. Their honeymoon had just begun when they received a call from Professor Kashyap asking two of them to get back to Delhi as one of their relatives was very critical.

Naina and Sakshyam without wasting any time decided to leave for Delhi in the evening. They packed their bags and left around 7 in the evening. It was quite a dark night and Mussoorie being a hilly and curved area. It was getting really difficult for them to drive and Sakshyam was feeling a bit sleepy. Naina asked to drive so that Sakshyam may take a break.

She fastened herself in the seat belt and started driving. They have covered a certain distance when a sharp turn appeared and Naina found another car approaching them from the opposite direction. It was around 15 feet wide and Naina knew that she would be able to turn her car easily but when she spotted another car that was coming in the opposite direction it was a truck. But before Naina could realize this it was too late. She tried to control her car but she had already lost control over her car and before she could blink her eye two of them banged on the ground after rolling almost 10 times down a 350 feet deep chasm.

None of them was aware of what actually happened and they were taken to a local hospital in the morning by various pedestrians passing by. Their parents in Delhi were informed about this incident and they left for Dehradun. Their condition was deteriorating continuously. Naina has suffered a head injury and her jaw bone crushed down. Sakshyam had a major injury in his leg and some scratches on his hands.

After many efforts, doctors said that Sakshyam is safe but they are just not able to bring any change in Naina’s Condition. Professor Kashyap decided to shift Naina to Apollo. She underwent CT scan and two unit of blood was transferred into her body. Doctors informed them that Naina is in a coma. They just have no idea of how long will it take her to recover. She may get up the very next day or maybe she won’t get up even after 10-20 years.

Mr. Rai decided to take two of them to Cross Road Hospital, Delhi. Sakshyam recovered in a month and Naina was lying in that coma for the last 5 years. She was fed by a tube and saddled in a diaper. Dr. Karan Shukla was looking after Naina. Sakshyam found him alone even in the most crowded areas. He has just spent 2 days after her marriage and was so much attached to Naina that he was living his life with a hope that one day she will get well and he may continue his life further. 

Sakshyam used to go to the hospital daily to see Naina. Dr. Karan Shukla got divorced in between these 5 years and is also hit high by loneliness. Their lives were going just the way which had nothing new.

One day something unusual happened. Sakshyam noticed that her belly was showing a bulge and was growing bigger. Doctors thought that there must be a digestive blockage so they made three tests to clarify and the results were unbelievable. She was pregnant, a victim of rape.

His parents wanted Naina to abort that child while Sakshyam stood in favor of delivering that baby with an ardent desire to see one of her parts alive. He also thought that if Naina would have sensed she would never allow aborting her child.

Media highlighted the case and it turned out to be an issue while no one was getting a clue of what happened to her. Sakshyam was trying to ask Karan regarding all this but Karan started to behave abnormally. He was trying to stay away from Sakshyam. Sakshyam decided to meet him personally where he got to know from one of the hospital staff that Naina was being raped by Dr. Karan.

Sakshyam decided to throw him behind the bars and filed a case against him. That hospital had trustees which included many prominent politicians and businessmen. Sakshyam was offered 10 lacs to step back in the court which Sakshyam denied.

The court proceeding went ahead and Dr. Karan's wife who divorced him stood in favor of Sakshyam in the court. Sakshyam was getting close to his victory day by day and Dr. Karan and trustees were getting impatient by all this.

Trustees decided to fire Karan from their hospital but Karan warned them saying that he would disclose everything about this hospital in front of media and all of you will be behind the bars with me. Trustees have no other choice so they decided to meet Sakshyam to offer a higher amount.

They met Sakshyam in a hotel room and made an offer of 25 lacs. Dr. Karan even agreed to raise that child. Sakshyam again denied saying them to keep the money as they will need this for their bail.

Sakshyam was in the parking area when the trustee approached him and offered him that he will help him to kill Karan. Sakshyam denied saying that he is close to victory and soon he will be in Jail. But he tried to mislead him saying that he will get imprisonment of 7 or maybe 14 years and then what he will be walking free. This thought made Sakshyam think twice and he agreed to kill Dr. Karan.

It was the third Sunday of April and Karan was in Farmhouse as informed by that MLA. Naina was going to deliver that baby today. Sakshyam went to see Naina and then to Farmhouse to kill Karan. MLA handed him a gun and he was having a knife also. He entered the bungalow where Karan was drinking in one of the rooms. Sakshyam pointed his gun at him and slapped him tightly. Fear grasped Karan and he realized that he is about to die. Sakshyam pointed his gun at Karan and was ready to fire and he triggered it. There was no bullet in that gun and he was back fired by MLA and Karan in return. He was losing his hope for life but with every breath getting weak his ardent desire to kill Karan was getting bigger.

Betrayed by that MLA he also wanted to kill him but he left his body.

On the other hand Naina was in operation theatre while family members were waiting outside to hear something positive. One of the nurses came out to inform them that her blood plasma level is going down and they need to transfer plasma into her body immediately. They were old enough so they couldn’t donate plasma. They tried to consult their colleagues and neighbors but nothing worked. They even announced this on one of the radio channels and after 15 minutes received call from a girl that’s he is willing to donate plasma but she is at a distance of 12 kilometers from that hospital and it will take some time. She had left for the hospital and after 10 minutes doctors came out of operation theatre taking off their gloves and informed them that she has given birth to a son. They were rejoiced to hear this and were quite happy to hear this but then doctor informed them that sorry but we could not save Naina. That excitement turned into tears that rolled down their wrinkled faces.

That girl who was willing to donate plasma came out of the lift and stood next to them but looking at their dull faces she realized that he was too late and got back without even informing them. Doctors said that they can collect her body tomorrow after post mortem and the child was kept under observation.

They were driving back to home when they received another call from police station informing that Sakshyam Rai has been shot dead. Their mind and heart stuck as two of them died on a single day and that too at a same time.

Their funerals were done together and that child Karthik was being raised by Sakshyam sister Sneha. It was really difficult for those parents who have to see their young son and daughter dying in front of their eyes. Sakshyam and Naina were now in a different world together which is free from rape where women can feel safe because here even if you are a dead body still you are prone of getting raped.

Media highlighted the news “Sakshyam shot dead” and “Naina 6 years in Coma, Victim of a rape died”. People went for candle march to seek justice and action against the guilty but their influence and reach were far beyond it.
