The Curse Of War

I kept this hidden for four decades. But it appears that the end is nearing.

I lost the battle for peace. The denizens of this country were a mentally and emotionally battered lot, after the last war. They lost everything, and had to rebuild life from scratch. It needed a lot of planning, moral support and spiritual education to help them stay afloat. The next generation has been trained in values of non-violence from the beginning.

But the curse is coming true. The warrior from the enemy camp who died last had spoken thus,

“I will come back to avenge this. The day the blade of my sword turns green, will mark the beginning of another war. My sword will acquire magical powers, and kill all those who destroyed us.”

The destroyers were long since dead. I wonder whom will the sword target first. It will probably start with me….
