The Bracket clock

Yusuf was a bit bored roaming with his family. His family had come for sightseeing at Hyderabad. Today he was tired in the sun after they visited the famous Char Minar.

The day before was fun, they had gone to Ramoji Film city. Yusuf was a class I student and now did not much understand the art pieces of the museum. They were at the famous Salarjung museum of Hyderabad. To quieten him his parents had brought a folding brass toy cum artefact from the momentoes stall.

As they reached after 12 o'clock they missed the viewing of famous English Bracket Clock and now at 1 o'clock, they hurried to the clock gallery where the toy appears in the clock by opening the door exactly 3 minutes prior to the hour and hits the gong exactly on right time since nearly 200 years.

His mother wanted to spend more time in the "veiled Rebecca" sculptor gallery but as the toy will only have 1 gong to hit they all did not want to miss it. Yusuf hurried near the clock to see the small toy. The door opened and a small toy appeared inside the clock. Yusuf was now interested and went very close to the clock in his curiosity. The security person asked him to step back as it was 1 o'clock and time for the toy to hit the gong. Yusuf hurried but he heard a big gong but did not see the toy doing any action.

"The toy is not working, it did not hit the gong," cried someone from the audience. There was a worried silence in the crowd the museum staff hurried to see the matter. Then one staff member shouted, "Quiet, there are still a few seconds to 1 o'clock."

Yusuf in hurry had dropped his brass toy piece on a tin chair, the brass toy dismantled and rolled down making a gong-like sound! Now it was 1 o'clock and the clock really gonged and the toy on the clock perfectly hit it on time!!!
