The bliss
The bliss
Two men were admitted to the same room in the hospital, Both were serious, One of them was given the bed next to the only window in the room.
Both of them used to talk to each other about their families, past, their memorable moments, etc.
The man sitting beside the window used to tell the other man besides him that the life outside the window was very beautiful, There was a park outside with children playing, a fountain with water coming out, a small pond beside the park with ducks sailing, people jogging, street vendors selling their stuff, people doing yoga , etc.
He kept the other man engaged with his live description of the life outside, The other man longed to see the outside world and wished to get well soon.
Days passed and then months, After some months, the nurse came in the morning only to find that the man besides the window had died peacefully in his sleep, His relatives were called and the whole atmosphere was of sorry and grief.
In the evening, the other man requested the nurse to shift him to the bed besides the window, The nurse was happy to oblige.
After the shifting was over, he sat upright using his arms and looked through the window, But to his utter surprise, all that he could see was the wall of a building!
On enquiring, the nurse said that there was always this wall that was only visible through this window, There was never a pond, or park or children playing or trees or plants visible from there.
Perhaps his companion wanted to motivate him, for which he described the scenery and vibrancy outside.
The other man remembered his companion and thanked him for bringing cheers to him for all these days.
The moral of this story is that our grief becomes half and happiness double when we share them with others, Had the man not lied to the other man and kept quiet and led a morose and gloomy life, the other man may have not lived for so long as he was seriously ill, The only reason for his motivation was to see the life outside the window which was described by the man!
