Part 1 - New roommate

I came out of the bathroom after showering only to see a figure around my height standing there. The figure slightly flinched at the sudden sound of the bathroom door closing. The figure turned around, saw me. then smiled, and oh my god! Such a cute smile she had She was wearing black ripped jeans and a half tucked in white shirt. She had a short wolf-mullet cut which made me think she was a boy at first glance. Hi! My name is Yumi. I'm going to be your new roommate." She said. "Oh Hello! I'm Chaewon. Nice to meet you! I hope we can be great friends!" I exclaimed happily as after 1 semester I finally got a roommate. She smiled back at me. "I really like your style and hair" I told her. "Oh really? No one's ever told me that before. I used to get bullied for dressing boyish" she replied. "How could they?! And yes, I mean it. I really like your style." I answered "Oh and by the way, I'm going out to meet my friends right now. Do you want to come?" I added. "Really? Can I come?" she asked. "Of course, you can!" I said. "Won't I be like an.... outcast?" She asked. "And why would u be an outcast?" I questioned. "Because I'm not Korean..." she mumbled. I looked at her confused as I thought she was Korean since she sounded pretty fluent in Korean. "Oh.... Then where are you from?" I asked. "Actually, I'm Japanese but I've lived in Korea, specifically Jeju Island since 2007." Hearing the words "Japanese", "Jeju Island" and 2007 in one sentence made my heart skip a beat as memories started to flood back in. I was so lost in thought when I heard someone calling my name. It was Yumi. I thought that there are many Japanese people in Jeju Island, and she seems nice so I can trust her. "You don't need to worry! I have friends who are foreigners too. My one friend is from Thailand and my childhood bestie and now boyfriend is Taiwanese" She smiled and replied that she would join us. But the moment I said the word boyfriend she dropped her smile. Strange, I thought. We left our dorm and headed towards my boyfriend's dorm. I knew that after finding out that Yumi is Japanese from Jeju Island, he wouldn't like me being with her, as he was there when 'it' happened.
