Rancho

I love watching movies, and if it's an Aamir Khan film then it's the icing on the cake. And among Mr. Perfectionist's films,I like 'Three idiots' most.

This story is about a friend of mine named Rancho. No not Rancho of Three idiots! His name is Ranbir Raina aka Rancho. However, he is equally intelligent and hardworking like the protagonist of Three Idiots.

Now the story goes like this. . .  

I know Rancho since childhood. He belonged to a poor family. His father is a farmer with income just enough to meet the ends. He however was a brilliant student and got scholarship through out his career and passed his MBBS exams with flying colors. He is now a doctor in the Smt. NHL Municipal Medical College in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. He resides in the Prahlad Nagar area with his parents and younger sister. I am his neighbor.  

Day before yesterday Rancho called me and said that today we have to go to Sardar Vallabhbhai Commerce College. It was Sunday and I was free. So said yes. His parents also went with us. While half way through, Rancho said that today Deepak is going to be awarded the best graduate award in the college.  

Now I enquired, Deepak. . . . our newspaper delivery boy? He said yes. Last year he chanced met with Deepak and enquired about him. The latter said that due to financial instability in his house he is doing this job and studying in this college side by side. As Rancho himself had gone through these days, he decided to finance the entire expenditure of Deepak's studies including his books and exam fees. Now it is a proud moment for both Deepak and Rancho as the former has topped his college.  

After getting the award Deepak came straight to us. His parents were with him. They thanked Rancho for his help and tears were in their eyes.

 This story does not end here. Rancho has talked with the accounts department of his medical college. Now Deepak would work as an accountant here and also prepare for his MBA entrance, which he intends to give after two years.  

Also, I have seen Rancho helping poor patients with getting medicines and accommodation in the medical. He also visits orphanage occasionally.  

In short, Rancho is a benevolent and helpful young man who is helping society in his best way possible just like Rancho of Three Idiots, my favorite movie character. He too had financial difficulty in his student life and after completing his engineering, went to Ladakh where he teaches local children to build their own projects. Actually, he is a scientist and runs the school only as a side business. He was the candidate whom Chatur had been after.  

Thus from both the stories one thing is clear that if we pursue excellence and passion then success will invariably follow us.
