No, This is My Amma's Gift
No, This is My Amma's Gift
"No Mom, you can't give this dress to anyone," shouted Rohini angrily.
"But why my darling. This is so not classy and doesn't match our standard too, my darling. Let me give it to our maid's daughter. I will get you something branded for your birthday." said her mom.
Rohini again refused, "this dress is a gift to me and I will not give it on any cost", saying this she ran away with the dress from the lobby.
The same day, sitting in her room she was thinking, how this dress was a gift from that old lady who lives in Senior Citizen Home. Rohini was happily remembering that day when she had an accident with that lady by her car by mistake and how everyone was shouting at her, was abusing, was cursing her for being careless and how suddenly that lady stood up and said, " It's not her fault, it's mine. Leave her alone". Listening to the old lady everyone started leaving from the spot. And as soon everyone left Rohini asked the lady, " Why did you lie? It was my fault, not yours." "If I would not have lied they would have got you arrested and I don't want anyone to be in trouble because of it," replied that lady and went away from that place.
And Rohini still being there realized that she had left and she didn't even thank her. As soon as she realized, she ran behind her and stopped her and said, " Thank you so much ah... What can I call you?" "Well, no need to call me anything and I don't want your thanks, just be careful next time." Saying this t
hat lady left and this time Rohini didn't follow her either. Later at that night Rohini was thinking of the whole incident and about that lady. "She definitely has some positive aura around her, I could sense that," said Rohini to herself. And then she decided to find her out and to meet her again. Finally, after a long search, she found about the old age home where she lives and went there to talk to her. In the starting, that lady refused to talk but seeing Rohini coming to meet her every day she started talking to her. And within no time a good, very strong bond developed between them.
One such fine day, Rohini asked: "what will you gift me for my birthday?" And she said, "I have nothing to give which suits your standard." "No, you will have to otherwise I will not celebrate my birthday", said Rohini. The lady finally agreed.
And the next day she gave her a simple pink dress stitched by her. Seeing the dress Rohini was very delighted and was saying, "I will wear it on my birthday." "No, you shouldn't wear this dress on your birthday," said the lady. "Its a very simple dress for you. Just keep it in your wardrobe." But Rohini refused and happily took the dress to her home.
And suddenly Rohini' s mom shouted: "darling, come for the dinner." And Rohini came out of her memory and replied, "coming mom." And on the dining table when she was again asked to not wear the dress on her birthday and to give it to the maid's daughter, she angrily refused saying: "No, This is my Amma' gift."
