Making It True!

"And I did it!", exclaimed Subroto in excitement. Well, he was this much happy because after tremendous efforts of around 6-7 years he had successfully completed his much awaited project, A time machine. He was always curious to know what the future has for him and what all he committed in the past and as a result, he had only this solution for his curiosity and it wasn't difficult for him for he was a scientist. 

"Now what will you do Subro?", his friend and colleague asked. 

"Let's travel in the future to see what's in store for us!", Subroto said and both travelled 20 years later from now. 

As they reached, they could see a different world! It wasn't as pleasant as it was today. Earth had a new picture. There were hardly any plants to be seen! Wildlife was almost extinct. Flowers and trees were visible in one out of ten houses. People were dying of hunger, the country was overpopulated and pollution was at its peak! Well, he didn't imagine the future will be this bad. 

"Look, Roy, how bad our future is! It is already so difficult for us to stay in these conditions, by the time we will reach 2040, we might die! We need to do something to change this, to have a better future!", Subroto explained to his friend. 

"Definitely Subro, we need to start today itself!", Roy replied. 

Soon both traveled back to the present and pledged to change the future, to make it better. 

Both then went to their homes and narrated the incident to their wives and children. All of them were shocked to hear that. And along with the two, both the wives also pledged to change the future. 

The next day they started with planting trees and motivating everyone to do that. They kept a seminar about how much necessary it has become to plant trees and avoid crackers during festivals. 

"You're saying as if we all plant one tree each today and it will have a big impact on our future! Huh! Aisa bhi kabhi hota hai ki ek ke kuch karne se fayda ho? Atleast ask 1000s of them to do, only then it'll be of use!", a lady in the seminar interrupted Subroto.

"Ma'am, you don't believe me? Why you, I think you all find it funny that even one of us plants a tree, it'll fetch the result, right? Okay, let me show you something.", Subroto told everyone. 

He then bought his gadget that could take them to the future. All of them found it a different and interesting thing. Soon he made all of them travel to the future. Likewise, both of their wives, even this lady, and the others were too shocked to see what was in store for them! They couldn't believe their eyes! It was no less than a nightmare for them. The lady who was speaking so much could see herself coughing badly out of pollution and lack of proper oxygen. She realized how wrong she was! 

As they returned, not only the lady but all of them pledged. 

The very next moment onwards, they started planting a tree each. Every family planted one sapling. Not only this they also discouraged buying and burning crackers. 

Soon Subtoro and Roy formed a team, they traveled to different cities and motivated others to do what they were doing. Everyone was in shock seeing the future conditions! They did what Subroto said. 

Roy and Subroto carried this for around months till they could cover at least one-fourth of the country. From preserving animals to saving trees, from discouraging crackers to encouraging saving of food and money, from a pollution-free environment to a less populated country, they did all that they could. 

"Subro, it has been 26 months now! And this is I think a big-time that we've devoted to this project. Now shall we see how are the conditions?",Roy asked. 

"Let's go!", Subroto said and they again travelled to time. 

This time scene was a bit different. There were quite a few trees that could be seen. Zoos were no more empty. People were travelling without masks and even the poor had atleast something to eat. They were quite satisfied with their efforts but knew they had to continue with it for some more years to see a completely healthy and green environment. 

As they were about to travel back to present, they saw a group of people having a chat with two boys, they zoomed in and heard. 

" Thank you so much Samar and Rahul! It's all because of your dad that we are living in such health conditions. Hadn't they traveled to this time, 20 years back we wouldn't have witnessed the same! Animals, birds, flowers fresh air everything would have gone by now, hadn't they shown efforts! We've heard their stories from our fathers and grandfathers! They are definitely a gem of a person! Thanks to them!"

Well Subroto and Roy were super proud of themselves. They were happy that what they're facing, future generation won't face the same. Now they had decided that they'll carry this for many more years to make earth just like what they had read it in books - A blue planet, A healthy planet!
