Maharathi
Maharathi
He moved like a typhoon and busted like volcano towards his enemy in the war, he was called the angel of destruction, he swung his sword like a thunder, he had such reputation that his enemies fled from the battlefield on his arrival, he fought 30 wars defending his motherland won them all with pride, No one knew his real name but his country men titled him as Maharathi: the Warrior capable of taking down the entire army single handedly and having complete mastery of all forms of weapons and combat skills, he had 42 wounds all over his body, he never tasted a woman or wine, during War he fought and during peace he trained his men and chanted Gayatri and Mrityunjay Mantra. Years passed his hair turned gray, his eyesight declined, he had never touched the sword for months due to ill-health, he thought he would die in his soil peacefully and his countrymen would give him ceremonial funeral; This would have happened until Shakaal entered his life, Shakaal was a barbarian who came from middle-East he had such a vast army that shook the earth when they moved, World called Shakaal A psychopath who loved to plunder, destroy and kill, he was also one of the Finest swordsmen, his men believed if anyone could match Maharathi in one to one Combat that was Shakaal. Once the king called Maharathi to his palace and said Maharathi Shakaal is approaching towards us I need you to command my army and win the war; Maharathi bowed to his king and walked out of court with excitement, thought defeating Shakaal would add another feather on his hat, though he is not physically fit to fight a war but he would command his army in Battlefield and form a such a war strategy that handful of his army would destroy the huge army of Shakaal and he also strongly believed that he can be never defeated in his soil, he strategized the war tactics in such a way that if executed it would have destroy the Shakaal’s army, he explained his strategy to his king and his king shook his head approving his plan. Soon both the Army met in battlefield he saw Shakaal moving forward his chariot leaving his army behind to the middle of both the army,. He pulled his sword looked towards Maharathi’s king and shouted send him I will Avenge my father’s death today, King Looked towards Maharathi and said he is calling out you he is son of Venashak, whom you beheaded in the one of the wars when you were young, Go and send him to his father, without speaking a word Maharathi moved his Chariot towards Shakaal, thought his king knew about his ill-health still he asked him to fight one to one combat, Soon he realised that king traded his death for the well being of his kingdom, he was deeply touched, after a long time there were tears in eyes realising his own king and people deceived him, he was emotionally broken, and lost a hope to leave anymore. he stopped his Chariot 10 yards from Shakaal pulled his sword got down the Chariot and walked towards Shakaal, Shakaal jumped out of his Chariot walked towards Maharathi both stared at each other for a moment and then suddenly Shakaal attached Maha
rathi defended well and for few moments he had upper hand he wounded Shakaal’s leg really deep which left Shakaal limping But defending the constant blow from his foe he became tired his hands became weak and started trembling, he felt bit of giddiness and his eyes dimmed. Shakaal smelled the weakness and suddenly gave a heavy blow on Maharathi’s head, Maharthi was bleeding and he sat on his knees ,he tried to lift his sword again and fight but his hands gave-up Shakaal pointed tip of his sword on Maharathis Neck and said“Beg for mercy may be I forgive you”Maharathi one last time turned and looked at his king and his men though they sympathize their warrior he could sense the relief in their face because if Shakaal would have lost then Shakaal’s army would have attacked and plundered them, then he turned and directly looked at Shakaal’s eyes and yelled. “you and your fathers were pigs no ethics,no respect for enemies,no value for others life I have no regrets for beheading your father and if I was in your place pointing the tip of my sword towards your neck I would gladly beheaded you, hearing this Shakaal swinged his sword maharathi’s head flew in air and fell into ground his eyes constantly staring at his king and Army questioning each and every one is this what I get for being patriot, Shakaal shouted no ceremonial cremation for this Dog if you do then I will destroy you all and walked halfheartedly from battlefield realising he was able to kill his enemy but he was never able to kill his enemies pride,
Maharthi's corpse lied in battlefield for days vultures ate his flesh with pride mother earth covered his bones with soil showing her respect to warrior one last time,Gods were eagerly waiting to welcome his soul in heaven But his soul wondered on the every street of his kingdom asking each and everyone “Is it what I get for serving you is this what I get for being Patriot.
Most of the people in his kingdom were disheartened by Maharathi’s death, But no one had a guts to revolt against their king, there has been talks among the people why their king deceived Maharathi
Few people believed that king was jealous of Maharthi’s Fame because most of his subjects loved and respected Maharathi more then King, Few other say that Since Maharathi was felling ill constantly and he was not in position to fight anymore so King thought its better to sacrifice Maharathi instead of getting his army and Kingdom destroyed and there has been also another rumor that Vinasak the Father of Shakaal had three sons after Vinashak’s died in the hands of Maharathi the kingdom was distributed among three sons Even if King and Maharathi were able to defeat Shakaal and his Army there would be possibility that other two sons who had a vast army as Shakaal would have declared war against Maharathi and his king. Whatever may be the reason it is true that Maharathi “One of the greatest warrior without whom king and his kingdom would not have survived was finally used as scapegoat.
