Love Is Where You Find It

Love Is Where You Find It

I am a great devotee of Lord Shiva and out of love; I bought a Shiva Linga when I went to one of the famous pilgrimages called Bheimashankar Temple of the 12 Jyothirlingas though I knew the fact that Shiva Linga should not be kept at home because it needs anointment (abhishekam) every day and a girl is impotent enough to do that. Initially, I took great care of it performing daily rituals and whenever I was depressed for any reason, I used to look at it in silence. I felt it indeed understood my pain. But then somehow, things changed as people changed with times and even as the days passed. I was busy with my external obligations due to which I was not able to focus on anything that I wished to do or just loved to admire at things I like doing.

My mother who always prays for her family’s wellbeing and firmly believes in astrology came to know one fine day that all the disturbances related to my health, studies, etc. are because of the Shiv Linga at my home without being worshipped. She confirmed it with the Priest of a Temple and requested me to remove it and keep it in some nearby temple. I felt my Mom and probably nobody could understand the truth that even though I did not worship it every day or perform pooja, I had immense and undying love for it (Linga). I attained a level where there was no point arguing for it, and as per my mother's concern, I took the Lingam to one of the temples near my home and kept it under a tree. That day was a tough day for me to resist, I was so disappointed as it gave me a complete missing thought or losing something which was precious and I loved the most.

I went inside the temple and sat there meditating for some time. Suddenly, a wind had blown with a low speed for a very short period. After a while, I opened my eyes and experienced a lighter feeling. Then I took a sigh of relief, my mind was open and free at that moment. The lesson I learnt from the day:

We should not take away things from where they are. A Linga has a place in the temple and there lies its importance and you should find your happiness in the temple itself. You cannot owe everything that you love in this world. You should be happy to see them in their place because that is where they are ought to be. Similarly, when it comes to the matter of life and relations; learn to be happy with people from where they are and how they are in their lives. You cannot carry them in your heart or give a place in your heart. Just bear it in mind; a day might come when they have to leave your heart, then you may not be in a position to accept the truth and tolerate the pain of suffering. So it is better not to offer such a sensitive place.

And yes, sometimes there are chances that you might have already offered such a place to someone special and they might not fit in the place or chose to be away from it. Then also, in that situation too, you are supposed to or bound to be strong and stubborn to not repeat the same thing again. After all, it is a chance not a whole part of life that teaches "Love is where you find it!"
