LOST

Mehar, a 17-year-old, used to live with her single dad.  She was very close to her mother and they used to spend a lot of time together. However, a few years back, her mother died of a rare disease by the name of lymphoma. Mehar used to love her with all her heart and stood beside her till her last breath. She still grieves about her mom's death as she was like a shining star in her life.
Due to her mom's interest in music, Mehar too took up an interest in piano lessons from a very young age. Her dad, Kapil, used to work part-time and always used to check on her. He was Mehar's only support from her family.
One night during summers, when Kapil returned home, he could not find mehar anywhere. He started getting a bit worried, but on calling her, he found out that mehar was away for a group study session at her friend's house and would not return till the next morning, He asked her to stay safe and soon went to bed after a chit chat with his brother Rajesh.
While Kapil was asleep, mehar tried calling him thrice but no one responded. On waking up, and learning about the situation, Kapil got tense since mehar was not picking up his calls anymore. He guesses that mehar might have gone to school straight away and hence, he must wait and try contacting her one she has returned.
That day, he could not concentrate during his job and kept contemplating if his daughter was safe or not. He immediately called her as soon as he reached home from his office, but still, there was no response. Suddenly, the calendar caught his eye and of course, it was a Friday. Her weekly piano lessons took place every Friday after school. Kapil sighed in relief. Just to confirm his daughter's safety, Kapil decided to talk to Ms. Alana once, mehar's piano tutor.
He calls Alan and inquires about his daughter, but the news the teacher gave was appalling. He realized to his horror that mehar had not been going to her piano lessons for over 4 months now. Kapil was completely shocked. But what bugged Kapil was the question, "where did my money actually go?". He had been leaving 100$ bills weekly on the table for Mehar's piano lessons, and every Friday Mehar takes it with her, but if she has not been giving her piano lessons, where did she use all that money?
He calls all of Mehar's friends to find out where she was, but they told Kapil that she never stayed with them for the group study and left for home last night around 10 pm. At this point, Kapil was horrified and freaking out.
It had been over 24 hours since Kapil had not seen Mehar, therefore he decided to contact the police for further assistance. Unfortunately, they could not file a report within 48 hours of the missing child, therefore he was instructed to contact all his friends one by one to see if mehar was with any of them. Kapil found all her social media accounts private, so he logged into her laptop and got access to all of them. One by one, he went through her chats, her Facebook friends, tried contacting them all, but everything was in vain. He was surprised to know that mehar was a very lonely girl and hardly had any friends. That night, he could not sleep properly. 
The next morning, Kapil called the police department again. He was informed that a renowned detective, Detective Kapoor would be helping him find his daughter. He rushed to the station and talked to the detective. They told him they will be starting the investigation immediately, and inform him as soon as they find something.

A couple of hours later, Detective Kapoor spots CCTV footage of Mehar's car in the direction outside the town. He assigns a research team to investigate that area, and shows it to Kapil. Kapil was confused, she could have gone anywhere, therefore he decided to dig deeper in her laptop and see if he finds any clues.
He finds out about a website called "freecast.com" where his daughter used to stream live. Kapil found the list of all her videos and went through them thoroughly. He got really emotional while listening to Mehar talk about her mother in the streams. He starts noticing something. He noticed that there has been a user called, 'riri' who has been in every stream of hers talking to her. On reading their chats, he found that the anonymous user also had a sick mom and that is why she could relate so much. On one of mehar's streams, Kapil found the location of a place that resembled the one where Mehar often went to relax. Kapil immediately called Detective Kapoor and told him about this. This could also be the place where mehar had been spotted going in her car. Kapil knew the location, so he rushed to the detective and both of them went to that spot.
They found a huge Lake, and on searching it, they found Mehar's car sunk in the water. Inside the car was an envelope of 2,500$, and some blood spots. But there was no sign of mehar. News of Mehar's disappearance spread, leading to a search party searching the woods for her. It had become a trending topic, where some people were sharing love and hope for Mehar to return, while others mocked the situation and accused Kapil of being involved in her disappearance. Kapil was terrified and could never sleep during nights and always kept going through Mehar's stuff trying to find out what could have possibly happened.
Almost a week had passed after mehar's disappearance, but there had been no clues to find what had actually happened to Mehar. Kapil looks through the photos of the site where Mehar's car was found. Upon closer inspection, he notices a jacket in the front seat of the car that he recognizes as Rajesh's, Kapil's brother. Kapil quickly looked through mehars messages between her and Rajesh, which imply that they have been doing something that Rajesh knows Kapil would kill him for.
Kapil starts suspecting him to be involved in this disappearance, therefore he pays Rajesh a visit and sets up cameras in his home to try and get a confession out of him. Kapil asks Rajesh when he last saw Mehar, and he appears to dodge the question. He then attacks him until he tells the truth, and Rajesh admits that he and Mehar had been drinking alcohol. She had caught him at one point and wanted to try it, so they kept it a secret from Kapil. Rajesh points out that he was the only one who listened to her when she talked about her mother's passing away since Kapil had avoided talking to her about it. Kapil was shocked, sad and mad about it, but he had much bigger things to worry about.
Kapil then gets a phone call from Mr. Kapoor who tells him that they have found a suspect, and he breaks down crying as he listens to him with hope. The news reported that an ex-convict called Dhruv Jalan had confessed to the murder of the Mehar before committing suicide. Kapil was full of tears. He was heartbroken. He kept contemplating why anyone would do that to her daughter and hardly ate for days.

A few days later he received an email from funeral services to arrange a ceremony for her daughter. He went on the website, started scrolling down. Something looked familiar to him. On closer observation, he saw that the image of the girl on the website looked exactly like the profile picture of user "RiRi" he spotted on the free cast. He immediately contacted the company and asked to speak to the lady. He very aggressively told her to confess if she was involved in any of this, but the lady was clueless. She had no idea who Mehar or the free cast was.
He gets very suspicious and contacts the police station straight away. Someone else picks up the call so Kapil asks to be connected to Detective Kapoor who was assigned this case. The lady on the phone corrects Kapil that Detective Kapoor wasn't assigned the case, rather, he volunteered to be the charge of this case. Something sounded fishy to Kapil. 
He quickly disconnected from the call and started going through Detective's social media. He suddenly spots his image with a group of workers. It was posted a year ago. He zoomed the image, and what he saw got him shook in awe. Among all the workers was the late convict whose confession was shown to him by the detective. Kapil couldn't believe the detective already knew about him, but now he was sure that Mr. Kapoor was involved in this disappearance.
He instantly contacted the police and explained the entire situation. They served a summons to Detective Kapoor. Detective Kapoor was shaking in his boots, at this point, there was no escape. There was enough evidence pointing towards his involvement in the crime. Therefore, on being taken to the confession room, he had to confess everything that had happened.
It was all a mistake of his son Arnav who had been in love with Mehar since middle school therefore he made a fake account on free cast and put a random girl's profile picture so that he could talk to Mehar. All the 2,500$ Mehar had been collecting was for the surgery of his sick mom from the story Arnav had faked. When Arnav found her drinking alcohol alone at the lake, he frightened her and she ran. Arnav went after her, and she started hitting him in self-defense, and he reacted by pushing her down the ravine.
Arnav got scared and called Detective Kapoor panicking. He told him not to worry at all and that he would take care of the case. He made up everything to throw Kapil off, making it look like her body was nowhere to be found, and even setting Dhruv up to make a false confession and having him killed. To Kapil, it felt like everything was a lie. He thought he was going crazy. The detective was fired and arrested along with his son.

A rescue team went down to the ravine where mehar fell. mehar's body was found there, and was rushed to the hospital. Kapil felt extremely disappointed for not taking care of her daughter as he would and was really worried if she would survive.

Due to the storm that took place, mehar had not completely dehydrated. After months, the doctors announced Mehar as alive and took her out in a wheelchair. Kapil's happiness was off-limits. He gladly takes Mehar with him and they soon shift to a new town together with Rajesh and live happily and safely ever after.
