Life Goes On

All that I could think about is my bright future with the one whom my heart chose finally. Finally, I'm going to find rest, happy life after a sad dark past.

I kiss my mom's forehead, shut the door behind me, and head to the city hall to continue the last procedures of my wedding.

  Mike and Megan

What a harmonic sound that has its special rhythm when saying it!

Today, even many facts about me have been changed. I'm in love with the warm sun that I've never been one of its lovers as I'm a winter person. Even the loud sounds of the cars pleased my ears despite the fact that I'm a very calm person, a writer who always looks for the quietest place.

Imagining my future life helped me to reach the desired place very quickly.

I enter. Fortunately, there are no many people. One, two, three, four; number four is... Yes, totally true I'm not dreaming, she is Lucy, in her flesh, and I think she rapidly noticed me as well as she gave me her usual smile. Fifteen years have been passed since the last time I saw that smile. Fifteen years, yes, a decade and a half. Fifteen years of pain, emptiness, bitterness, and a broken heart.

I am a person who had a gloomy childhood and teenagerhood, full of problems and tears that had traumatized me. But, since the time Lucy and her family moved to our neighborhood, my life has been colored after darkness. I loved every single detail about her, her big brown eyes, her wavy hair, her dimples, her mole, her smile that cheers me whenever I see her, and especially her soft voice.

"I'm sorry but, you're different. I can't love you... You're..."

I knew the rest of the sentence without she says it. She can't love a man with prosthetic legs, after all, she is not obliged to suffer for life looking after a half-man. She was using me only as a way to escape and forget her past with her ex-boyfriend, I've never thought that she would hurt my feelings one day, never thought that I would listen to something like that from HER.

I really loved her, but she instead burned me inside.

She could simply tell me that she doesn't like me. At least, it would hurt much lesser.

But, thanks to God, because when life knocked me down, he sent me my savior, Megan. The one who broke the vow I made about not knowing any girl after Lucy. She helped me get up again, despite that I was kind of rude to her at first. She didn't give up at all, and what I like more about her the fact that she just loves me because I am who I am, she loves my soul, and not because she is feeling sorry for me, and here I'm going to marry her.

I give Lucy back a smile, a one that is dyed with victory, and sit on the chair reading my daily newspaper.
