Travel towards a place where many unresolved mysteries are buried. These mysteries are such that the more you solve them, the more you will get entangled in them.

This story of deserted Kuldhara village started about 200 years ago when Kuldhara was a prosperous village. Kuldhara was surrounded by 84 villages and thrive Paliwal Brahmins inhabited in it. According to legend, Powerful and debauched prime minister of Kuldhara, Salim Singh had gone derange since he saw the daughter of the village sarpanch. He wanted to get that girl in any case. He started pressuring the villagers. He raised the taxes to such an extent that it became unviable for the local community to survive in the villages. Villagers did not afraid of him.

After this incident happened, he got very exasperated and sent a baron to the girl’s house. And it was said that if the girl did not find till the next Poornima, he will attack all villages around the Kuldhara and pick up the girl (source of Amarujala). The people of the village were frightened but they did not want to give him to their daughter in any case because it was the honor of a girl's self-respect and also for them. The Paliwal of the 84 villages met a temple and planned to leave the village overnight.

The next evening Kuldhara was so desolated. In ancient times, there was so much unity among the people. For the daughter of one, the people of the entire village gave up everything from their prosperous land property. It teaches us a lot.

People were so sad when they were leaving their homes. So it is said that when they were leaving the village, they cursed that no one would settle here again. As per the changing times, 42 villages were re-built but Kuldhara and Khabha were not yet settled. These villages are now under the patronage of the Archaeological Department of India (ASI), which is open daily to tourists in the day time.

Kuldhara was completely destroyed; the walls of the castles and fortress were ruined. These villages hold charm in a very different manner because it is said that the sound of market movement comes and there is always the voice of women talking and their bangles and pilings. So, Kuldhara has become a city of ghosts. Therefore, Kuldhara is opened only in the day and no one dares to go at night.

But as per my vision, I feel that there is sadness or negativity in the air. When I think desolated place Kuldhara, and those unfortunate people, who were forced to leave the prosperous land of their forefathers. My heart is filled with sadness. From my own perspective, this place does not look spooky anywhere but it is a legend in itself. I do not know if there is a curse or not, but there is definitely a sorrow in its air.

Stranger things have happened…especially in INDIA.
