“Please open me up, please,” I said, while my hands were tied so brutally that my whole hands got red in a fraction of minutes

2 hours earlier,

“Mom! please let me go alone. I am 18 years old now, I can buy my clothes” I wanted to discover the brand-new opening of the mall today, and mum had some appointment with her clients

“the crime rate has increased beta ! nowadays there is been high reporting of kidnapping cases baby. please understand ”

“Mom I can handle myself. don’t worry ya.. I will be back in 1-hour mommy. you continue your appointment ”

“but beta..”

I disconnected the call, she thinks I am some kind of child. I dressed up, and went to the brand-new mall

The mall looked amazing from the outside, It was decorated with the lights I love.

I walked in, it was fully crowded place. I was making my way by pushing people back and suddenly I felt someone grabbed my hand and pulled me backward. I shouted but the music and people were so busy in themselves that no one was able to hear me. I decided to punch some person in the crowd so that I can get some help but it was too late. The person inserted a cloth in my mouth which made me faint.

When I opened my eyes and I was tied with ropes around me. I couldn’t see anything because my eyes were tied with some black cloth. I don’t know what to do so, I shouted till the end of my voice.

Suddenly someone opened the cloth which was tied around my eyes.

I could see two people who were of the age of 40 and 20 I guess. we’re standing in front of me

The aged person said “what work does your father do?”

“Why you bought me here ? please let me go please ”

“Answer the question and then we will let you go,” they said politely

“He is an electrician ”

“No worries, here call your dad and ask them to deliver Rs 2000 to the dustbin near the new mall and take you back”

Wait, what did they said ? 2000? Why? I mean they kidnapped me for only 2000? That’s idiotic

“What you said?”

“2000. are you deaf?”

I told them the number and then they demanded Rs 2000 from my dad. my dad agreed and reached there within 20 minutes

After 20 minutes they came up to me and said “you are allowed to go back to home sweetheart ”

I could not resist myself from asking him “you know you are bad at kidnapping, I mean you could have sold me off to a richer person for maybe 2 crore or you have send me on child labor, why would you only take 2000 Rs and let me go?”

His face was covered, so I was not able to see the expression on his face. After 2 minutes he said “the umm.. things you said, we would never do it to anyone because I too have a daughter and I don’t want karma to play a game with us. and the reason we are demanding only 2000 is that your father is an electrician, for him 2000 would be a great deal beta. and we want money and we can’t make it because we are from the lower caste and even though we get a reservation, my family has ended up in garbage cleaning, umm..to be very honest. my grandfather constructed a house near river side and now due to the government making something, our all house are broken into pieces and they didn’t paid us money to buy new house. so, with nothing left as a source of income, we are doing this. sorry beta ” he opened the ropes around my hand and told me to “go away ” like I was a bird flying away from the cage

When I went to my house. I didn’t hug my already tensed mum dad. I told them everything how these people were suffering and that they are not getting the money that they deserve. yes, my father was an electrician, gandhidham’s most expensive electrician, he had a huge lot of money. the reason I thought 2000 was less was because my father gave me 2000 to buy clothes. but being rich, doesn’t make my heart corrupt. My dad suggested the idea of donating them money. but will this stop corruption? I asked myself. I said my dad to let me think for some time and then we all went on to see TV.

While mom was changing the channel, a documentary channel flashed up and that’s when it struck me. Why not make a documentary on this? If it gets viral. it would be a big slap on the face of a corrupt leader

The next day, I called up my friend and then we went to them and made a documentary on how their money is still stuck and all of them are now homeless. by papa, mum, and my connections. the documentary went viral. to make the slap more powerful. me and my classmate went on a hunger strike to make people aware how serious the issue is. and finally, after 10 days. they all got the money to buy the new house. the person kidnaped me was Rohit, he came up to my father and cried his eyes out. he was not able to stop saying the word “sorry sahib” and “shukariyann sahib (thank you sir )”, my dad hugged him and tell its fine

At last, Rohit uncle said that we were like a god to all of them

And that’s when my father said some golden word “when you die, you won’t carry the bags of money you earned but the smiles you earned ” “if god grace you with talent and money, you should help other who are not able to earn, that will make you a good person ”
