Part 3: Shattered Glass

Arya thought, "Even though she is still very nice and friendly to me, I have to maintain a distance. That's good for both of us." However, Arya noticed that after that night's conversation, Priya seemed friendlier to her than before. Arya tried to avoid talking to her continuously by making excuses about workload. One day, it was raining heavily, and Arya was waiting outside, waiting for the rain to subside. Priya was also about to leave early that day. Priya came outside, opened her umbrella, and then saw Arya waiting for the rain to stop. Priya came near her and said, "It doesn't seem like the rain will stop anytime soon. So come with me, and I will drop you at the bus stop." Arya was a bit hesitant, but she went with her. After getting under the umbrella, Arya noticed that Priya was holding the handle in one hand, and her other hand was getting wet. Arya took the umbrella from her hand, pulled her close, and started walking with her hand on Priya's shoulder. She quietly said, "I am taller than you, so I'll hold the umbrella, and your hand was getting wet, so I..."

At that moment, cutting her off, Priya smiled and said, "Yes, I know." Then they started chatting while walking.

Priya: "Now tell me where you've been all these years and what you've been doing?"

Arya: "I've been busy with temporary jobs and part-time work."

Priya: "Why did you drop out at that time?"

Arya: "Well, about that... My financial condition wasn't good, so I focused on earning money."

Priya: "But why didn't you tell me that?..."

Arya: "Anyway, let it be in the past now... You didn't tell me what happened with you all these years and so on..."

Priya: "All these years have gone well. But the big news is that I will be engaged next month," she said happily.

Arya suddenly stopped. A train of thought started in her head, "What?... She's going to get married!... I didn't know that. It should not matter to me if she gets married or not..." She turned to Priya with a smile on her face and said, "Congratulations, Priya."

Priya: "You know you're the first person I've told this to..."

Arya: (in a very calm voice) "Yeah. I'm glad I got to know first."

Priya: "You have to help me with everything until my wedding," she said with a smile.

Arya said, "Sure, I'll help you."

But a thought occurred to her, "Deep down, why does it feel like my heart shattered like glass...."
