I Have Had Many Trials...
I Have Had Many Trials...
'I have had many trials...' Ben unconsciously sputtered his thoughts to the audience while sipping coffee tea inside a copper cup. There was a transient silence, as his two audiences Jane and Kiptoo, turned from their initial idle chit chat and pointed curious eyes towards Ben.
"Ben!" Jane called with a concern tone.
'What's up, mate?' Kiptoo added to Jane's fading call.
'I have had many trials', repeated our Ben. This time he was aware. Fully aware of his masculine thoughtful tone. He turned his face towards his two friends sitting opposite him on a cosy white sofa. Now he had given the sun his back to warm. It had inspired an inner conversation that had led to reflective moments, studying the past like a historian.' Whoever wants to prophesy the future must look into the past and that, the present is woven by the past'. And so our dear Ben had journeyed to the past, this wise phrase the catalyst.
"I have had many trials', Ben smiling now left the window railing where he had been sitting watching the rising sun, came closer to his friends and sat on a reclining chair near Kiptoo. Staring at their amused eyes, his lips poured a touching poetry.
''I have been a darer and in the arena of life. I have challenged,
have not been a timid but a brave fool. I did begin with
and many trails made me brave and wise.
Have played in the stage of love, broken and mended
and loved again, broken and mended, healed and loved again
that's when I found you, Jane.
Have played in the stage of friends,
trusted and was loyal to many that called me a friend
yet in my daring going bravely in loyalty I was betrayed
by friends and made me easy prey to my enemies
but the gods saw my courage and my love and my loyalty
they shielded me and I come unscarred
through these betrayals and pains of the effects of fellowship
treason, I learnt what a true friend is, and what isn't
and when I met you Kiptoo, season tested you,
and you made me say, You are true friend mate.''
Ben finished. His lover Jane was being drained of tears, and Kiptoo silently looking at his friend dropped a single tear, Men!
