Howls In The Night

For the past one week, for some weird reason, I have been hearing howls. It's believed to be a bad omen and that belief has been passed over generations.

I called up mom and asked, "Amma, is it a problem that I hear howls in the night?". She then asked me, "is it only in the night or in your dreams?".

Now that she asked me this question, I was confused if I was dreaming or actually hearing those howls.

I hung up on the call and told mom, "I'll call you tomorrow."

I decided to keep a phone recorder on at night so that I can be sure that I am not dreaming but actually hearing the howls. That particular night, I didn't hear anything. I was happy to have slept well that night. I didn't bother to check the phone recording and resumed with my daily chores.

Before going to bed, I thought I'll hear the phone recording. I was in a state of shock after listening to the recording. I couldn't believe what I heard. It was me screaming, "Save me...save me". I couldn't recollect any dream that I had or any bad incidents that had happened which made me scream like that.

I tried to calm myself down. I drank some water and tried to sleep but I couldn't because the phone recording was disturbing.

No matter how much I wanted to ignore it I couldn't. I then resisted the thought of being haunted by a ghost. I didn't want to believe in them. The next morning, my roommate asked me sorry. I asked, "what for?". She replied, "for watching the horror movie loudly while you were asleep".

I then realised that those weren't my screams but were of a character in the horror movie which my roommate had watched last night.
