Half Strangers: Chapter 1

My life is a mess. Yup screwed. It has never been simple. It was a little bearable when my best friend was there with me. It's been f**king ten years since we parted our ways.

It's not that we were in love but he should have at least listened to my side also. It was a mere misunderstanding or should I say a huge misunderstanding that lead to our broken friendship. 

After that day I did think that I would never face him in my life again but here we are moving to the same place he is staying. 

Bcoz of my dad, we are moving again. Well, why we are doing this it's just complicated.

 

I left my studies halfway and became an artist. 

It's my way of spending time in my world where no one will ever find out that it's me. Bcoz I never use my original name in my art and had never shared my photos online or at the award.

My assistant is the only one who knows my true identity and is grateful to have her. She is like my sister who I have never thought to have.

Novalee: Ree !!!

Reese: Hm

Novalee: What's wrong

Reese: Just thinking 

Novalee: About Ezra

Reese: It's been ten years lee. I don't know how to face him.

Vesna: Don't stress yourself again Reese. We both know it wasn't your fault.

Reese: But mama

Vesna: No buts and all. Get your ass up the kids are waiting for you.

Yeah !! I have been tutoring kids or spending time with them as my psychiatrist suggested. She says that it's the best way to heal myself. 

Why do I need this? Well it's because the way Ezra left me and the words he said to me were heartbreaking and I wasn't myself and got into an accident due to which whenever I see fire I get myself triggered with a severe headache and everything blacks out... because of this my mother never allowed me into the kitchen...and she had never complained about this. 

Novalee has been a great friend but she just can't fill the space of her best friend who always has been Ezra and thankfully she understands this. 

Novalee: Back to earth Ree.

Reese: Sorry.

Novalee: You definitely would be sorry if you don't drag yourself down. 

Reese: Why !! what's wrong. 

Novalee: Avalyn and Ave have been waiting for you for like an hour now. 

Reese: What the f**k !! Did I again make them wait for an hour? 

Novalee: Yeh!! And guess what Micah is also waiting for you. 

Reese: Shit!! I better be getting down. 

Novalee: Yup. 

Micah was the one who saved me from the accident years ago and had become protective of me. Well, the thing is Micah is Ezra's cousin and to me, he is like a big brother. He is the 3rd person who knows my true identity as an artist. My mama, lee and Micah are the only ones to whom I can be reliable. 

Ave: Ese eseeeeeee!!

Reese: Hey champ. 

Avalyn: How you doing Reese.

Reese: Am good momma. 

Sometimes I wonder if I'm the one tutoring her or if she is the one taking care of me. Well, I guess it's in her nature since Avalyn and Ave's mother is the psychiatrist I'm looking to. 

Micah: We can see you are not good today. 

Reese: I am good Micah. 

Avalyn: We know the meaning of "good" Reese.

Micah: Is it bcoz of my idiot cousin. 

Vesna: She's drooling since morning. 

Reese: MAMA !!!!

Novalee: *chuckles* Yeah she is. 

Reese: If someone says that one murder is forgivable I would kill you. 

Novalee: *sarcastic laugh* You can't baby doll am your biggest saviour. 

Micah: If you kill her you will be a dead ass. 

Reese: UGH!!!

Ave: *dramatic tone* Don't worry eseeeee I'll support you. 

Reese: What have I ever done to have you all. 

Avalyn: Come on Reese! We aren't that bad. 

Reese: And you want me to believe that. 

Vesna: Why not dear.

Reese: Fat chance mama.

Micah: Why don't we have fun out! what you all say. 

Novalee: That's a nice idea. 

Avalyn: Can we also come. 

Ave: Yes!! pleaseeeee Eseeeee.

Reese: Of course my munchkins.
