Farmer

Vivan reached Yuva centre , Kharghar Mumbai to attend 21st century teaching skills. He was a passionate educator who believes that students learn in totality and construct their knowledge whenever they get suitable environment. He used to spend his time in field, means government school, where he supported teachers, shared his pedagogical insights and pushed current education scenario towards more related to real life, post lunch he would search sites for new content, read a number of books, write notes, record audio and sometimes create video also . He was working with Tata trusts in Devbhumi Dwarka ,Gujrat. Before coming to Gujrat, he worked in Delhi and Rajasthan, where he got into the habit of partying and enjoying evening with his colleagues along with smart sips of chilled beer. Here Gujrat was a dry state, He scarcely got chance to chill himself.

When Vivan got news that there was Annual meet and workshop in Kharghar ,Mumbai, He was more exited to go Mumbai not for Annual meet but his chance to enjoy evening with his old friend –Kingfisher! He reached one day before at the venue –Kharghar Mumbai. He visited near about market at evening but did not find any bar or wine shop as he dreamed before coming here. He thought of the dance club, grand bar would be easily available in Mumbai. He did some ground research and got information that Kharghar was within Navi Mumbai and was a dry area- here wine shops were not allowed. He was frustrated for a while but as he soon searched on google map nearby area for his choice. It was 7:30 PM by the watch and dinner time –cum- roll call at 9 PM. He found all wine shops were about 15 km far from Kharghar and it would take much time to go there.

Vivan started discussed with auto driver and found a shortcut to reach the nearest bar. He got elated for this achievement. He sat alone on a seat and ordered for a beer. He enjoyed it with peanuts. He felt this one beer was enough for today so he paid the bill and started his journey towards Yuva centre.

Suddenly he returned to bar and found another person sitting on his seat, Vivan sat in front of him and started eating peanuts. He took one more beer and again one more beer. He started conversation with his fellow being –Jagtap . Jagtap told him that he was a software engineer, earned well but not happy with his job. He found amazing pleasure in doing farming. He gave his time whenever he had to his field. Vivan was happy hearing his fellow words. They discussed a lot about their profession, their vision for life etc. Both agreed that now a days people were running after money. They had money and only money but they lost their purpose for what they earned this money. Farming was best thing to do for anybody as everything started after satisfying the hunger. Vivan was very much inspired by the story of Jagtap. He took short interview of Jagtap while talking about how he started farming ,what challenges did he face? How did he manage market related issues? What satisfaction did he received on being a farmer?

Jagtap replied open heartedly and each word of Jagtap as if Vivan himself replied these questions. They found that it was high time to do agriculture and business related to this. They visualized that future would be pathetic and price of vegetables would have touched sky and only a few people could afford healthy food. Government should have made such policy that beneficial for farmer and students must learn it in their schooling. He was overwhelmed that evening and reached late night at his venue and had a great sleep that night.

It was matter of three months ago when Vivan was in the Kharghar. Now he was at his native place along with his family members, cousins and other close one. He left his job , now he was a full time farmer. He taught students of his village. He applied his all skills to mathematize the thoughts of his students that they learn from their life , their real life context, they build their knowledge which would take them towards autonomy and they would not remained job seeker, they chose from their heart and became a entrepreneur in agriculture field. He was very happy from his decision and was very proud on being farmer.

Vivan was sitting with his beloved wife –Rushmi. Rushmi asked him how he turned so quickly towards farming, What was his turning point? Vivan told all story of Kharghar night to his wife and soon he realized he would have thanked to Jagtap for giving such wonderful insights. He picked up his phone and rang save number named as Jagtap. It rang in their room, both were surprised how it happened, he reassured and again dialed number of Jagtap, again rang in their room. It was Rushmi's JIO number, Vivan confused why he did save his wife number as Jagtap? He thought continuously and remembered that evening, he drank after a long time that evening, one beer was sufficient for him but as he returned that was the turning point of his life. He was sitting with no one. He took two more beer and cooked all story along with himself. Jagtap was his inner farmer who need such heavy dose to awake. Rushmi laughed at Vivan a loud ,They laughed together and enjoyed being a farmer.
