“Ever since the moon twinkled in the sky we celebrate Ramadan,” the father told his little daughter.

They fasted for 30 days and invited their relatives over on Ramadan. The little girl decorated her room the day before.

“Appa! Why do we celebrate this festival?” She asked her father. Her father replied by saying, “When the moon in the sky is in the shape of a smile, Allah comes to our home for teaching us the beauty of life”. “Hmm! You’re right Appa. So, that is the reason why our relatives come to our home. Right?” she asked. “Yes they all come for Allah'sblessings” he replied.

She went onto the terrace to wait for the sun to set so that her parents could break the fast. Clutching her teddy bear tightly in her arms she shouted" Oh Sun! go home soon, we are waiting for the Ramadan moon”.

Meanwhile," Hai Wada Khuda Ka " a qawwali song played from inside the house. She ran down the stairs and welcomed all her relatives and friends.

When her parents and other relatives were getting ready for serving food to the poor, she took some toffees and coins that were saved under the mattress and ran behind her father.

She raised her hands up to her shoulders, whilst saying “Allahu Akbar” and prayed to Allah by chanting "SubhanaK-Allahumma wa bihamdiKa, wa tabaarak-asmuKa, wa ta-‘aala jadduKa, wa la ilaaha illa ghayruk"which means "O Allah! glory and praise are for You, and blessed is Your Name, and exalted is Your Majesty and there is no God but You".

Seeing her mother working alone, the little girl finished her prayer quickly and ran towards her mother and asked her mother “Ammi! Do u need some help?”.The mother replied by saying, “No beta! take this bowl and have your favourite Sheer Khurma.”. The girl asked “Ammi! What ingredients did you use to make it so delicious? I love it . She expressed her excitement to her mother and had a fulfilling dinner. The mother replied to the daughter's question by saying" With Love".

“ Allah! thank you for blessing us to have smiles on our faces and giving us everything that we asked for " her father smiled looking at the moon.

“ Allah! today we could feel your presence here with us. Thank you for the gift of life, for the wonderful people I have met along this journey of life, for this beautiful daughter ” her mother expressed her gratitude to Allah.

“ Allah! thank you for giving me this wonderful family,” the little girl prayed and wrote in her diary about all that happened during the holy day.
