It was a fine morning in Katy’s house. She was reading a newspaper while Dolly was busy playing catch with her new squeaky ball. Katy decided to make a batch of chocolate chip cookies. No sooner she had put the cookies in the oven than she heard the doorbell ringing. Dolly who was startled, started barking and Katy rushed to answer the door. As she opened the door she found out it was her friend Mr.Stephen who had dropped in. “Oh! Hello Steve, It’s so nice seeing you here after such a long time” Katy remarked. “Hello, Katy, yes it has been a while, but I have exciting news,” Steve replied. “Please come, in I’ll bring some coffee with a batch of chocolate chipped cookies and we’ll take about it as we eat,” said Katy and brought in some yummy cookies to eat and served some to Steve and some to Dolly.

As she settled in the couch next to Steve, “I have heard that your dog, Dolly has won an award for bravery, I have planned to host a contest between my dog pepper and yours to see who is best in both strength and intelligence. I have informed the society of pets association to conduct this contest and one who wins will be conferred the best dog of the society,” explained Steve. “Oh, that’s great when it is” Katy asked. “It is next week at the Society of pets association” replied Steve and took leave.

As soon as Mr.Stephenson left “My dear Dolly as you have heard you’re going to compete in the contest.” Katy said. “Woof Woof,” said Dolly. That night Katy called her friend Cholet, Emerald, Andy, and Eva and ask them to help with the contest.

The next day Charlotte and Eva reached their house. They were excellent runners and hence they trained Dolly using a running course. Dolly barked eagerly taking part in the race. Eva held the stopwatch “Faster Dolly Faster” motivated Charlotte and soon Dolly completed a 200-meter course in 45 seconds. She got a dog biscuit as a reward. She practiced some more time in the course and improved to a surprising 35 seconds. “Good Girl Dolly,” said Katy, and Dolly eagerly barked to reply.

The next day Emerald decided to take Dolly on a run with the others around the neighborhood. Dolly warmed up with a few stretches and started a run first they reached the supermarket. Andy decided to test Dolly by asking her to find her favorite dog food in the shop. Dolly started sniffing and finally, after a few minutes of running around found her favorite dog treat, after buying Katy offered a few biscuits as a reward for Dolly. She also asked Dolly to fetch some of their favorite chocolates. “Andy, you have given me a new idea to make Dolly my shopping partner “Katy exclaimed.

A few days passed like this with joy and zeal and Dolly was trained at the same time enjoying the fun of her adventures.

Soon it was time for his competition with pepper. That morning Katy packed some biscuits, wafers,s, etc. for Dolly in their picnic basket. Dolly was all ready and fully prepared for the competition. While making her way through the ground she met pepper who was accompanied by his master, Mr.Stephenson “Woof, Woof” barked Dolly to wish good luck to Pepper. Mr. Stephenson distracted his dog and made him walk away without hearing Dolly’s bark. Dolly thought that something was strange but she decided to go back to Katy and drink some water before his first game. As Dolly rushed across the field she found that many people were settling down in the benches to watch the game. She also saw her friends Andy, Emerald, Charlotte, and Eva seated in the first row to watch the game.

The speakers were tested and the instruction for the games was announced. The first game was to compete in a 200 m race. The second was to find the way out a maze Dolly got positioned on her mark next to pepper. The whistle was blown and both were close to each other. “Go Dolly Go” cheered Katy and the others. For a moment Dolly was in the lead and for the next, it was Pepper again Dolly out ran Pepper but Pepper overtook her. It was the last leg of the race and Dolly heard cheers from the stands she decided to use her new move which she used to jump past the barriers in the store with an awesome leap Dolly managed to overtake Pepper and rush past the finish line.

The sound of applause and cheers was heard and Dolly was announced the winner of the first race. Katy rushed to hug Dolly and after a warm hug Dolly saw Pepper’s trainer sheering at her. Dolly turned away and followed Katy who made her way to the bleachers to rest and refreshed before the next game.

Dolly after a break ran to the start of the maze after a while Both Dolly and Pepper started the maze Dolly tried to gaze through the maze and made her way slowly and steadily. Pepper did the same. It took some time for Dolly to find her way but Pepper who had a very strong sense of smell ran past the bush and reach the finish line ahead of Dolly. It was a tie between Dolly and Pepper with one game won by Dolly and one by Pepper. The announcement declared that there would be a tiebreaker to mention the winner of the game. Unlike strength and intelligence now was loyalty to the owner. This game included the dog helping the owner in some way. The game began and Dolly decided to go to the shop in the building to get some chocolates for Katy. At the same time, Pepper didn’t know what to do, as she had not gone out for the past few weeks because she was so busy training. In 5 minutes Dolly fetched some chocolate for Katy with the money given by Katy. She was announced the winner of the competition. Everyone broke into cheerful applause and shouts. Katy and the others congratulated Dolly for her success.

It was time for the award ceremony “And this year’s best dog of the society award goes to Dolly” announced the President of the pet association. He held up a large trophy for Dolly. Katy and Dolly rushed onto the stage to receive the trophy. Loud bursts of cheers could be heard everywhere when Katy held the trophy on behalf of Dolly. Even Mr. Stephenson was happy to congratulate Dolly on her success. “Congrats Dolly you won the competition. I was too busy on training my dog that I forgot the fun part of it” he said. “Well done to you too. Actually, you were about to win too” Katy remained soon Dolly and Pepper because best friends.

The next day was dolly’s birthday. Katy invited Mr. Stephenson and Pepper and her friends to join them on a trip to the beach. Pepper and Dolly had a grand time playing in the water while Katy, Stephenson and Emerald, Eva, Charlotte, and Andy chatted under the warm sun. Soon it was time to cut the cake. It was a huge cake with both Pepper and Dolly as the showpiece on the top.. Dolly cut the cake with her special knife and they all ate the cake happily. Later they built sand castles to end the day. It was the best birthday for Dolly.
