Did You Say Something - Part 3
Did You Say Something - Part 3

Continued From part 2
“Without prevarication, I must tell you things are getting afar. What I mean, you may like or not, things will get out of our hands if we don’t act expediently. I am ready to go on foot up to outer ring road, not alone but with you.”
“What is the distance?”, I demanded.
“Just two kilometers and will take hardly half an hour. I have done it before a couple of times”, was the quick reply from her.
This changing façade of her put me in certain predicament. I was presaged and dithering. She just said circumstances are susceptible to gender and now she is ready for this much audacity.
“What time of the day was it?” I asked peevishly.
“Obviously it was sometime before dusk. You know, girls do not take chances. They play it safe.”
I was dumbfounded. Was she inveigling me to some artifice? I was trying to overcome my trepidation. I looked at her askance. It looked, she was rearing to go for this adventure earnestly. My prudence was not allowing me to do that. Demurring, I searched my pocket for some dough without being noticed. The money was not enough
even for hiring a rickshaw for two of us, what to say for the scooter. She now noticed my teetering.
“By the way gender does not necessarily mean a female one, it could be otherwise as well. Let me search for my purse. We may pool for a rickshaw.” She continued,” It’s enough for two of us. We can even buy an ice cream.”
“Are you serious? Are you aware, what time is it? It’s going to be 7 O’clock in the night. Do you hear it, in the night!” Though the idea, of sharing rikshaw , was mine but coming from her was queer. She can’t be an exemplar for me. I have to instill courage in her, not she. This girl is an enigma to me. I resolved to be more circumspect from now on.
“Lost in thoughts! Never had been in such a precarious situation! Don’t worry, I had been. But earlier things went awry for me. Once I did not have faith in my instincts and other time I could not confide someone as you are. Actually you need a combination of these two important ingredients. This time I have both of these two. I want to enjoy this time. Being atrabilious doesn’t suit me. I am ready for what it may come.”
