Defining Love

He always kept asking her. ."dear. .what is the definition of love"? Whenever she heard this question, she smiled and answered "you'll know. .one fine day you'll definitely know what love is". . Every time he heard this, he too smiled, but was never satisfied with her answer.

One fine day the couple decided to go for a trip to the nearby hill station. As they were passing by a village, the wife asked her husband to stop the car and step out of the car. Amazed, he did exactly as she told him to do. They walked towards a tree which was laden with fruits. She placed her palm on the tree and asked him to do the same. When he too did it, she said "see. This is love. The tree is standing on this ground since years. Seasons have passed by, but they are still together. They are connected deeply. She took out a lock on which 'love' work was inscribed and she tied it around the tree with a wire. She took his hand in hers and said "we both are like this bond and this lock here would engulf the energies of the universe and will be a mark of the love between us. We will always be together whatsoever.

After one year, we will come back at this place and see if the lock is still here. If it will be here, then consider ourselves being blessed by the universe. He hugged her and they went home. After two months, the wife got pregnant and the couple was busy planning their life for their child. They were too engrossed in their work that they forgot about that lock. Time passed by and she gave birth to a baby girl. The couple was more than happy to be blessed with a cute little angel. They celebrated this occasion with their loved ones and friends. Gifts were showered on them. One day, as the husband was checking out the gifts received, he found a strange wooden box in one of the gifts.

Amazed, he opened the box and his heart began to beat faster. There was a lock in it with love inscribed on it. . . He quickly recalled the date on which the couple had tied the lock around the tree. . The baby girl arrived exactly after one year. On the same date. He rushed to his wife, with tears in his eyes and told her about the incident. They rushed to the spot only to find that the tree was being cut but its roots were still there. With tears in their eyes, they kept looking at the place, while the baby girl smiled with the lock in her small hands.
