Corona Warrior

Mrs. Anita, an Anganwadi sevika(lowest in the hierarchy) had a tough time when the decision came from the Union govt of checking temperature and early symptoms of covid19 in each and every household. The day came when she had to go out for first time in the lockdown in scorching heat of April end in the plains of Uttar Pradesh. Her day was not easy as many people refused to open door for them , some did but treated Hera's untouchable . It was tough when someone was ill and their families will hide them to avoid quarantine in govt hospital. The fear of getting infected was worse. Having a 3-year kid alone at the home was more frightening. Her husband a laborer in Gujarat's textile mill was unable to return and her neighbors were not willing to look after her child with a fear that the child could be a spreader of the virus. When she used to return from her duty she used to hear her child crying and want to come close to her but she used to the take bath ,change her clothes,wash old clothes and then meet her child.

At night she used to cry because she was afraid to that night could be her last night and she could not do anything for her child and the promise she made to her husband to be strong until he returned. The child was her only hope but could not see any future in those dark nights. The only thing which she did was pray to end the suffering which she and many others are facing.

Remembering the time of suffering her eyes gets filled with tears not of sorrow but of joy that she was able to fulfill her promise and is with her husband in the Dussehra festival.
