Contagion

It was around 5 in the evening. I caught the bus and I took a seat. It takes about a half-hour to reach my home so, I thought of taking a nap. A old person sat in my next seat. He seemed a bit sluggish. So I decided to take another seat. After a few minutes, Suddenly that old man fell off from his seat. By the time I went to help him, many people came to help him. So, I stayed in my seat. The old man had a difficulty in breathing. Very soon the ambulance had come to take him. It was 5:45 when I reached home. I was very tired, so I wanted to lull myself. I turned on the TV. I was just changing the channels and suddenly I heard a breaking news that " a 65- year old man named Rajan Babu passed away due to a virus attack. He was the man whom I saw in the bus. The doctors have no idea about what killed him. They also found out that this man returned to India from a Hong Kong business trip. They were damn sure that he was attacked by this virus in Hong Kong as there was no such virus in India. They also said that this is contagious. They also said that this man had definitely infected many people.

I was a bit shaken when I heard the news. Thank God I didn't touch that old man. 2 days later, I heard that there were 8 cases in the city. Doctors have also found that the people suffering with this disease had a direct contact with Rajan Babu. slowly day by day, the number of cases started increasing. The doctors have no clue about what diesase is being spread. A week later, the doctors found out that this virus is caused by bats and pigs. This disease was spread all around the world. The no. Of deaths kept on increasing. The whole was petrified. All the malls, theatres, offices, colleges and schools were closed. Still there was no change. So, the head of the country decided to have a lockdown in the country due to this deadly virus. people were mad as they didn't have any work to do. After alot of research, the doctors and scientists were surprised to know that this was a deadly virus that was caused 10 years back in Malaysia. This virus is first carried my bats and it is contagined to pigs and then it is transmitted to a man. This was named as nipah virus.

Nipah virus killed 105 pig farmers in 3 days. Around 9500 people died due to nipah virus. A old Malaysian doctor invented a medicine for this virus. Doctors started using it and within 10 months the virus was gone. Now, the Indian doctors are planning to test this medicine on infected patients. If this medicine works, then we can get rid of this virus. They also said that we all should stay home. If we move around, the situation will get worse. So let us all stay home and pray god.
