Best Friend

How can a boy be a best friend to a girl, everyone whispered in the college campus? We are best of friends from childhood, Saroj told with confidence to everyone who raised questions over his relationship with Sujata. Just like her best friend, Sujata conveyed the truth to the ones who asked inquisitive questions. Though they were in the hot discussions of college mates and branch mates, they never cared for anything. 

From exchanging notes to sitting in the library for study, from watching the film to sit together for discussing each happiness and sadness, they always met. 

One day, the handsome hunk of our branch proposed to Sujata for love. Though he was the best student of the college and his debonair personality was impressive enough to win anybody's heart, Sujata didn't reply to the proffer.

On that day, in the college library, she whispered, 'Hey, Saroj, today, Rajesh has proposed to me, and I haven't replied anything.'

Looking at her graceful eyes, Saroj whispered, 'Do you love her, the vernacular of your eyes declare that you love that handsome and talented Rajesh'? 

As they came out, Saroj confidently told, 'Rajesh is a nice guy, and Sujata, give your nod to her, you both will look amazing together and future of yours will be bright.'

Smiling at Saroj, her vivid eyes could search Rajesh, and she hurried up to say, 'Hey, Rajesh, I love you, and I am ready to become your inamorata'. 

Looking at her eyes, Rajesh told silently, 'so my dear friend, Sujata, you have taken permission from your best friend and now you are convinced that you love me, you can't take your own decision, is he your only best friend or something else?'

Witnessing tears in Sujata's eyes, 

Saroj couldn't control himself and wiping her tears, Saroj yelled to Rajesh, 'Hey man, don't doubt our relationship, our relationship is as pure as river Ganga, if you have doubt, she can tie the thread of rakhi on my wrist, yes our relationship is unique, and we are best of friends'.

Looking at Sujata and patting on Rajesh's shoulder, as he was about to leave, Rajesh affirmed, 'Wait, Saroj you can't go like this without forgiving me, come on and give me a hug promising that you will also be my good friend'.

Looking at both Sujata and Rajesh for a moment, Saroj nodded with his eyes.
